I grew up as a teen in the 70's and don't know what you are referring to.

I remember when I was little my parents talking about it. I remember long lines at the gas stations and my Dad cursing about it. How did they do the odds/evens? What did they go by?

Moi..I do..I was an odd, which is fitting. It was not a fun time..you had to pay attention to your gas tank, figure out how far you could go until you were allowed to line up for gas..more than once I couldn't go somewhere because it would have used up too much gas! :( Hmmm...come to think of it, Jim and I don't go anywhere because it takes too much gas..the more things change, the more they stay the same! :)

I remember being subjected to that in 1979.

I remember those days.

I vaguely remember my parents discussing it at the dinner table.

I remember sitting in those lines. People would run out of gas, my dad was always one of the ones who would get out and help push the cars foward in line. It was not the entire USA that had that happening though. At home in the north east we had the lines, when we went on vacation we never saw a line once we got south of Virginia.

I was a child, but I remember them. Even if you were permitted to buy gas that day, so many stations didn't even have any to sell. It was awful. My dad was a DC cop at the time, so he had priority for gas, but there were many who weren't so lucky. I've never understood why we aren't clamoring to start drilling here. All it took was the middle east to cut off our gasoline and we were at a standstill.
