My PS2 plays games, but when trying to play certain DVDs, black lines appear across the screen moving similarly to adjusting tracking on a VCR. These DVDs work on other players. The rest work fine on the PS2. Parental controls are off.

A big answer to this question deals with what kind of TV you have, if you have one of the newer "Flat Panel" or LCD tv's, you might want to check into doing a 56 point convergence. More help on doing that may be available from this site www.hometheaterspot.com Also, the issue could be with "Macrovision" copy protection, is your PS2 hooked straight into your tv? or is it hooked up through other devices first? Try hooking your PS2 directly into your TV if it isnt. Hope this helps.
