NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT... I DIDN'T PLAY THESE SPORTS JUST CUZ THEY WANTED ME TO :| That's wierrdddd... and to think I could've been a tennis star right now if they hadn't pushed me to play it :S its all their fault!
  • Swimming...because I wanted to Dive Ballet...because I wanted to do Gymnastics They were all about safety...lol
  • Nah. I had to beg them to let me play sports!!!
  • My parents never pushed me in sports, but rather in education. It always came first in their minds. When I did do a sport though, safety was their number one priority.
  • Nope... i've always wanted to be just like my parents.. they were always active (Both in the Marine Corp.) so i wanted to be active. Joined Cross country for 4 years, did Track since i was 8 (sprinting and 1600M), Basketball (didn't really like that sport), Lacrosse (WOO! CAPTAIN), Volleyball all through High School then played as a starter in College V-Ball.... I love sports <3 <3 <3
  • No .. I was encouraged to choose my own interests.
  • Nah. I always wanted to play.
  • No,I can do what I like.
  • No, and I would never force it on a child, sports isnt for everyone. I would let them make their own mind, on where they interest lie, then I would help to encourage them to excel in that area.
  • No.they made sure we would always take part in physical activities and sports but we were never pushed into competing. For them our participation was a way of exercising and having fun.
  • Not really, but my dad was part owner of a bowling alley so I became a bowling rat at the age of 5 just by hanging out at the lanes. Got to bowl for free and became pretty good. Considered going pro but opted to use my education instead.
  • My parents died when I was too young to start sports so no they never pushed.
  • Baseball. I was awful!
  • Thankfully, they didn't.Although there was pressure to take dance lessons...
  • It would have been nice if my parents cared enough to push me into doing something.
  • No. Kind of wish they did. Who knows what I could have been. Heck, I could've been so good that I would be at the Olympics right now.
  • Yes. My parents signed me up for soccer when I was about 5 or 6. I absolutely hated it, and convinced them to let me quit after like 2 practices. Later, I played Little League baseball for a couple of years, which I enjoyed far more.
  • gymnastics, cheerleading, softball, and basketball. played them all until last year when finally my injuries caught up to me and the doctor told me I was no longer allowed to do sports. The ironic thing is with all my time taken up with what my parents wanted I didn't get to play the one sport I wanted to.
  • Nope, I pushed myself to play football and was damn good at it. Still am. I loved it and still play in pick-up games to this day.
  • I was never pushed into a sport. In fact, I was never pushed into anything. Maybe thats why I haven't been able to leave the 7-11.
  • I was pushed to play golf lessons. no biggie. Not a sport, but I was also pushed to play piano.
  • well i did volleyball basketball and track and my mom really wanted me to do basketball so thats about all...i love sports!
  • No but I wish they had. Motivation and sportsmanship were not prerequsite lessons in my house. if your parents do push you in a direction. If it is good for you, go with it. Do it for yourself not for them. It is an important life skill to be able to fight as a member of a team and to learn to work together to reach a desired goal as a part of something other than yourself and your own perspective. Spirit and comroderie is also important. You will be more successful in business and all walks of life if you can make it work for you. And healthier too... Without these skills, you become a social retard like I was. I honestly wish my parents gave enough of a sh*t to care to push me toward anything. You are lucky if that is the case.
  • No, but my mom made me take ballet and tap. sigh...
