  • I guess you can always put your thoughts in there, not just activities. Also it seems like everyone has a blog nowadays, both social and not so social people.
  • Sure. To complain about that stuff;)
  • I don't know, maybe to record their thoughts or maybe they have a pet project or something they research and it acts as their notes,
  • I can't speak from experience, though I imagine that this is when you need a diary the most.... To work through the feelings and get in touch with yourself to lead a more enriching life.
  • It gives a person a needed sense of order in his/her life to write the day's events or one's feelings down on paper. I find that a journal helps me vent what's festering in my mind sometimes, so I can instill some sense into this chaotic, confusing world of ours. It usually doesn't come to that point, but it's there if I need it. More often, a journal is a log of things I did, so I don't forget about them in the far future----it's nice to keep tabs on things that meant something special to me, or was of significance (even a little significant) that I encountered over the course of a day. In a few years, I can read it over and think "Geez, was I really that silly to have such thoughts?" or "Boy, I've really changed, haven't I?" I think a diary or a journal is great for people with uneventful lives, with no family or friends, because it IS like the family member who is there for you to talk to----an invisible person or sounding board to convey your thoughts to.
  • for people with depression it's very therapeutic. I can write down my hatred, anger, sadness..whatever I feel and I can do that knowing that NOBODY will ever read it. AB is sort of like that but I still hold back on AB because there are still people on AB who judge each other. With a journal/diary..I can just 'let go' and pour out my heart and when I get finished if I need to tear it or burn it.. but at least it's out and I feel better.
