  • No chronic effects other than occasional diarrhea if you eat too much. But the biggest danger comes from eating anti-bacterial soap. That can build up in your body and kill off your good bacteria so you can't digest your food and do all sorts of things in your body like fight disease.
  • Well if its Anti-Bacterial soap and your eating it...more likely the soap will litterally "clean you out" the anti bacterial soap will kill the bacteria needed to digest normaly and thus result in you not being able to eat! Not a good idea. And to top it off if your not able to digest your food gets treated as waste, and you will lose weight possibly. I DO NOT recommend you eating soap.
  • I have eaten dettol fresh anti-bacterial soap on and off for years. A couple of days ago i was violently ill so dont know if that was too much in one day. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis so my body rejects the good bacteria anyway, and im still alive.
  • Eating soap or other non food items is an eating disorder called PICA and doing such is generally not good and could be signs of other underlying medical conditions. PICA can also be a signal of nutritional deficiency or mental health issues. Good news is soap is generally not too bad for you but eating too much may interfere with getting proper nutrition. Seeking professional help may be warranted.
  • ive been eating soap since I was 13 and Im 25 now its just as addictive as any other drug coz I will get cravings for it and some times get really mad that it may kill me because it is a form of solvent abuse! I eat anything from tura blue anti-bacterial soap to dettol or sweet ones like cammy or imperial leather but I have stopped for long periods of time before but got weak thinking I can use it for the right reasons and I buy it and fall right back into it again but the worst thing is that its like CRACK on a shelf so easy to get. Ive just had som and as i type right now Im feeling the urge to stop and simply not buy anymore so I'll be back to let you guys no how it went :) take care my soap eating buddies
  • How the hell did you live for five years doing that!?!
  • According to Ralphie...blindness as a result of soap poisoning!
  • Wao! It is good to know that I am not alone. My story started with the nice smell of soap. I love the fragance of them. Suddenly, one day, I just felt the urge to eat it. That happened over 20 years ago and sadly that bad habit or, if you want to call it, sickness is still with me. I ha've tried to stop, ignore and not eat it anymore, but the craving is bigger than me.. and for those making fun of some of the comments, I hope you understand that it is not our choice to do this but it's something bigger that pushes us to eat soap...Good luck to all of you soap eaters out there. Sadly, you are not alone.
  • I don't what to say myself. I'm a soap eater too, I love the smell of it. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I like to eat different types of soaps like Irish Spring, Cami,Jergens,Zest,Ivory, tone, etc but except soaps like Dove and that Pear soap. I don't like the soap that as a bitter taste to it. I've tried to stop but it's so hard. The only time I'm able to do that it's when I'm pregnant, I loose a taste for it until I have the baby. When i don't have any soaps that I like I tend to bite on my nails alot. I know I need help but I'm embarrested to do so. Plus I wouldn't want my kids to find out or my family.... I just want to know that it won't kill me.
  • Why would you eat soap?
  • I have been nibbling on soap since I was a kid. It all started when my grandmother used to wash my mouth out with soap and eventually I developed a taste for it. I don't eat large amounts of it but I do scrape a little off the soap with my finger nail and taste it. I have tried stopping but its hard. I know it's a bad habit! I wish I could stop! I feel like an addict. It's embarrassing to talk to anyone about it so i just keep it to myself. I am comforted by seeing that there are others with the same addiction that I have. I am glad im not alone.
