• For years people have been mystified at photo's of yogi's who seem to float in the air. In all actuality it is a bouncing motion from a seated position which is suppsedly stimulated by a higher state of being. But the secret of pure levitation and defiance of gravity lies within the secret covens and mysteries of modern day magicians, which suffice to say, is an illusion. Sustained levitation without any mechanical assistance or apparatus is impossible to maintain.
  • oops, double clicked.
  • One of the most famous people currently doing this illusion is Criss Angel. His trick is explained here.
  • Amaze someone by gently rising about 4 inches off the ground. Steps Stand in front of the person with your back facing away, and your body positioned at about a 45-degree angle to the person's point of view. Turn so that they can see your left foot and heel, and the back of your right heel. Use your hidden right toes to slowly push yourself up a few inches, keeping your heels together. Remember to keep the heel of the foot closest to the person level with the ground, to provide a sense of level levitation. Hold the position for 2 or 3 seconds, then let yourself down quickly, avoiding sudden moves or shudders. Tips Angle is everything. Practice this in front of a mirror or another person. Lack of practice will surely give you away. Turn so that they can see your left foot and heel, and the back of your right heel. If they see your right toes they will see how it's done. Try to be subtle when doing this. Don't just say, "I'm going to float now." Say instead something like "Now watch my feet closely" to make the person focus on the illusion. Make sure every one is on one side of you. There's a good video called "The Self-Levitation Video" starring Michael Maxwell and Paul Harris, which is dedicated to the Balducci Levitation, and contains lots of psychological subtleties which help to sell this effect. Warnings Don't go up too high or they will see your toes. Don't give away your secret, and don't imply that the illusion is an illusion at all, but a power you picked up in the far far east which you've been sworn to secrecy not to reveal.
  • I leviate using the ancient art of "Total Flatuence" With the proper amount of chili I can float for over an hour.
  • Quite simply, it's a hoax. Unless of course, you're fictional. NOTES ------------------------------------------------------ Nov 16 06 Hello, drive-byers. This answer is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and it answers the question. So would someone PLEASE tell me what's wrong with it?!
  • When I was 8 years old I was levitated 4 or 5 feet off the ground by my teenage sister and a bunch of her friends. They thought it was just a prank and would not work, but it did and it scared the sh_t out of all of us. To this day I don't know how to explain what happed, but my sister and I have each other as evidence that this is a REAL phenomenon. It was a whole process they went through... if anyone has any questions, or explanations for that matter, I would love to hear them. :-)
  • Hi ! There are many accounts of westerners who visited tibet in the 50s and 60s finding monks who were able to levitate with their strong meditational abilities. Apparently anyone can develop it through meditation and its not a hoax.
  • Kind of hard to answer without context. Maglev is real metaphysics is bullshit.
