  • Giada is Oscar's grand-daughter. Say no more, right? (Lol.) You just KNOW that there is an off-screen fat granny cooking everything there. A real chef could never be that skinny! I used to feel the same way about Sandra. I know her sister and the kids on the show, I've met. She grew on me. You're thinking, how did this non-chef get aboard! But whenever you look at what she's doing, it DOES look tasty. And get real. What are you more likely to cook, some extravagant thing that Chef BAM! prepared and which you'll have to buy half a dozen things that you have never even seen before in your life? Or some deep fried ravioli, all the ingredients which you conveniently have in your cupboard.

  • Giada is an extrodinary cook. She knows what she's doing and has experience doing it. She has an infectuous smile and great advise. Sandra lee? Not so much. She does show simple recipes but, come on, you can't compare the two. As far as cleavege? What is the deal with you people? Get over it.
  • Giada is not Oscar de la Renta's great-grandughter. She is Dino De Laurentiis's granddaughter. And she is a real chef - trained at Le Cordon Bleu and worked her way up through a number of high profile restaurants. I am not a fan of her show, it is too glossy and over-produced, but I do respect her as a chef and have tried some of her easier recipes with success. Now, Sandra Lee is some super-entreprenuer who actually started in interior design. Think a prettier, perkier version of Martha Stewart. She drives me nuts but I have to respect a self-made woman. I think they are both on because they look good on camera and they can both talk and cook. They both have unique concepts (particularly Sandra). Neither are my favorites on the Food Network, but someone must be watching their shows. It is highly competitive and they must be pulling in ratings.
  • It is offensive to see these two names in the same sentence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sandra Lee's ex-husband, Bruce "the wallet" of KB Homes (who btw, since the divorce is now the livein boyfriend of Martha Stewart) PURCHASED the show for her. I can't stand her. She's an overgrown sorority girl. All she cares about is getting to "cocktail time" and keeping craft stores in business with her "tablescapes." Her show should be reduced to booze and decor. The things she excels at. Leave the poor FOOD (and innocent viewers) alone. Yikes. Sham-dra's show would be much better placed on COMEDY CENTRAL. She does a disservice to cooks everywhere. Her crap is SOOOO unhealthy. I feel sorry for people who are trying to learn how to cook and think her stuff qualifies as decent. GIADA, otoh, is a world-class chef with credentials. I have all 3 of her cookbooks, and the recipes are amazing. And ya know what? Most of them can be made in 30 mins or less, and some used purchased foods as a base. YET: they are palatable, quick, easy, and in most cases, infinitely more nutritious.
  • What man who hires women who work in television could resist a perky, cute woman with big breasts (and is not afraid to show them to the world?) AND she can cook, too! This is why Giada is on the food channel. Nice ladies don't show their breasts on television. She is a tart who can cook.
  • That truly is a good question how such an amateur line-cook such as Sandra Lee got a job making sub-par recipes. Well there are people with all sorts of tastes out there I suppose. I can't comment on the other one though. Sandra Lee's overly cheerful demeanor also annoys the hell out of me too.
  • I like the way, they never really eat their food. (While saying its so-o good...) Maybe a small bite, and thats it. How's that supposed to make a person want to make it & eat it? I'd trust Sandra Lee with booze though. She'll gulp any and every cocktail she makes on her shows.
  • Why would anyone spend the time comparing the two women? I do not doubt that Giada is a refined chef and has the credentials to back it up. But in reality I don't know of one person who ever made any of the recipes from her show. On the other hand, Sandra puts on a great show, inexpensive budget on food and uses what most middle class (school teachers, police wifes, secretarys) families feel they can afford to maybe entertain a few friends once a month. The Tablescape is elaborate but if you can use one item from her show, it's going to be impressive to your down to earth guests. However, I watch Giada not for the recipes but for the camera action. I love seeing boiling bubbles in a clear glass pot. My husband likes to see her nubile bubbles bouncing. Sandra, I call my school teached daughter and tell her to watch Sandra because she can afford her. Her husband helps because she is so damn cute and sexy. If Giada is on the TV, he just watches the bubbles bouncing.
  • Giada can cook, that's why. Sandra Lee is a joke and doesn't know basic cooking, wouldn't even stay in culinary school because she didn't like the way they did things. She's there because of her ex-husband and because FN needed sex appeal, not someone who knows how to cook. People watch for entertainment value, not knowledge.
  • There is absolutely no comparison between Giada and Shamdra. Giada is an actual COOK and deserves her show. She portrays a very positive image of Italians and chefs in general. The food she creates, especially the legacy dishes, are absolutely authentic and right on. She uses quality ingredients and has a vast store of cooking knowledge. Her obvious love of family and sharing food with family only lend credibility to her upbringing in an Italian kitchen with parents and siblings. I'd be proud to serve any of Giada's recipes. Sandra Lee, OTOH, is a hack. She doesn't belong anywhere near a kitchen - even washing dishes. She was married to the real estate mogul, Bruce Karatz of KB Homes and she road his riches right onto a TV show. Mixing a box of this with a can of that and a bag of the other thing, then applying heat, is NOT cooking. This is Sandra Lee's M.O. Unfortunately, Shamdra appears to have an audience of minions who detest good, healthy, well prepared food as much as she. They will likely fill hospitals in the next ten years with hypertension and cardiac arrests. Not to mention they'll glow in the dark from all the chemical-laden mixes.
  • From their shows,they are an embarassment to the culinary field.I don't care if they say they went to culinary school, so did I and I have studied food science and cooking since I was a child.These two act as if they don't know a fine veloute from a bowl of gravy. Giada uses that fake accent which she thinks is Italian and Sandra Lee is a joke altogether.They are poster girls for the food network to gain viewers, that's all. You seriously cannot learn a thing about true cooking from these two women.Learn from real credible chefs like Wolfgang Puck,Charlie Trotter,Madeline Kaman, Alice Waters, and many others.Giada and Sandra cannot compare to them.
  • Giada is a real chef who can cook. I have many of her recipes but have learned to increase the spices as some of her stuff is bland. Sandra, on the other hand is ridiculous - If she spent as much time cooking as she does decorating her kitchen to match her clothes and those stupid tablescapes maybe she could make real food instead of using packaged food and presenting it as semi-home made.
