  • As long as I remember we've marched across this land Reached for a new horizon pulled by the killing hand All fed up with lies the time has come to break these chains and fly Here we stand, bound forevermore we're out of this world, until the end Here we are, mighty, glorious At The End Of The Rainbow with gold in our hands We know the treasure lies beyond the pouring rain Our quest will last forever for you it's all the same No one can deny our future's set to reach above the sky Here we stand, bound forevermore we're out of this world, until the end Here we are, mighty, glorious At The End Of The Rainbow with gold in our hands Let's fly away through the rain fly high, to ease the burning pain oh, the colours fading out The light is shining in the night it's up to you, it's worth the fight search before the colours fade Here we stand bound forevermore we're out of this world, until the end Here we are, mighty, glorious At The End Of The Rainbow with gold in our hands

  • Here's an excerpt from "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot (and a link to the rest of the poem) because I know you like it http://www.bartleby.com/198/1.html And would it have been worth it, after all, Would it have been worth while, After the sunsets and the dooryards and the sprinkled streets, After the novels, after the teacups, after the skirts that trail along the floor— And this, and so much more?— It is impossible to say just what I mean! But as if a magic lantern threw the nerves in patterns on a screen: Would it have been worth while If one, settling a pillow or throwing off a shawl, And turning toward the window, should say: “That is not it at all, That is not what I meant, at all.” You are the strongest person I know. "All forward motion counts."

  • This is an excerpt from an interview with singer Amy Grant. It's wonderful and wise, and I hope these words give you, and everyone who reads it, strength. ~~~~~ Interviewer to Amy Grant: You named your second daughter Sarah Cannon, after Minnie Pearl's real name. How did you come to be close friends with Minnie Pearl? Amy Grant: Well, I don't know that I would say we were close friends; she was my grandmother's age. I went to a really amazing school in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. I was in a public school before that. This was back in the days of busing, and my parents put me in a private school so I wouldn't be on a bus from morning until twilight. That school finished in the eighth grade, and they had a closing exercise type thing for us, the big dogs, and Minnie Pearl was our speaker that year. Of course, I'm thinking, "Oh great, what's this gray-haired lady going to say?" You know? Because eighth grade is just on the front kind of cusp of the pompous and arrogant age of youth. Anyway, she was so disarming and so encouraging. She talked to us as if we were contemporaries. As the years went by, I did some fundraising work with her. What struck me was how many notes she would write me. I would go to the mail and recognize her stationery, and she would write, "I saw what you did" or "I was proud of the way you did this." She was always very encouraging. Anyway, my favorite thing - this was after she had her stroke and she had good days and bad days - I was pregnant with my daughter Sarah, the daughter I named after her. She was having a good day, and she was fairly lucid. She said to me, "Amy, you know what the most important color on an artist's palette is, don't you?" And I'm thinking, "Uh, primary colors?" (laughs). I said, "No, I don't know that I know that. I tend to like colors that you find in nature." She said, "Honey, it's black. Always remember that. It's black." She said, "Without black, everything is two-dimensional. It's when you mix the black in with every other color that you can create depth." She said, "That's the same as your life, Amy. It's all the dark times that create depth in a person." http://www.sptimes.com/2005/01/23/Floridian/Amy_Grant_s_palette.shtml
  • Don't Quit:)!! When things go wrong as, they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the depts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit' Rest,if you must, but don't you Quit . Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow- You may succeed with another blow. . Often the gaol is nearer than, It seems to faint and faltering man, Often the struggler has given up, When he might have caputured the victor's cup, And he learned too late when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. . Success is failure turned inside out- The silver tint of clouds of doubt, And you can never tell how close you are, It May be near when it seems so far, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit- If's when things semm worst that you Must Not Quit;)!!! > Auhter Unknown< If you need ant thing let me know Sixty B good luck;)!!

  • I came across this poem written by the late Blank Savage while trying to find out more about this man that many on this site grew to adore. I would like to find more of his work but I felt this one was a good one to post here. Reaching Out Author: Blank Savage Broken down by life, left to weather the storm, Standing all alone, beaten, battered and torn. Life can tease you for a while, just to snatch it all right back, Like a strong and steady train, that has finally jumped it's track. Nothing left to hold unto, and I can feel the bitter end, Worried what life has in store that what it has yet to send. I refuse to be a begging man, as I still maintain my pride, I act so damn brave inside, when I rather go run and hide. No one left to run to, as my dear family dismissed my name, no one left to hold unto, and no one is there to blame. I guess I should be thankful, not everyone stands with kings, But when you lose your place in life, and left packing up your things, Knowing the ride is over and nothing will be the same, Makes a once proud man wonder, if he has gone insane. I have tried to see the brighter side, and tell myself it will be alright, But I know that the sun won't rise again and I am left standing in the night.
  • Here Sixty B- I hope this one can bring your spirit up.
  • This Too Shall Pass If I can endure for this minute Whatever is happening to me, No matter how heavy my heart is Or how dark the moment may be- If I can remain calm and quiet With all the world crashing about me, Secure in the knowledge God loves me When everyone else seems to doubt me- If I can but keep on believing What I know in my heart to be true, That darkness will fade with the morning And that this will pass away, too- Then nothing in life can defeat me For as long as this knowledge remains I can suffer whatever is happening For I know God will break all of the chains That are binding me tight in the darkness And trying to fill me with fear- For there is no night without dawning And I know that my morning is near. ...Helen Steiner Rice
