  • Muggle school teachers perhaps. He was much more polite in the movies than he was in the books.
  • The movies didn't give away the fact that Harry had spunk, and an attitude to go with it. I could kind of relate to him (the book him, that is), since I had an abusive mother. But she never broke my spirit.
  • I wouldn't say he was all that polite, one, and two, children don't always turn out like those around them.
  • Maybe he was just born polite. I think that because he was always pushed away from his Aunt and Uncle he could see what horrible people they were and decided that he would be the exact opposite of them.
  • Harry Potter is a classic case of repressed anger. When he was younger, in the first couple of books, he had apparently already attended at least five years of public school, and experienced enough good examples that he knew how to act in a civilized manner. As he got older, he started asserting himself more, and it's a good thing for all that he had some good outlets for his anger.
