Tell the interviewer a weakness you have had, but which you have either overcome or for which you have managed to compensate. Tell him/her how you overcame it and that, in doing so, you learned how to compensate for any other weaknesses.

A lie. Okay, that's a little extreme. A lesser weakness. People have to project a better-than-life image when being interviewed.
-
Well, I once read that if you try and make it a positive (disguised as a negative) that they see right through it as a ploy to not answer the question honestly. So, I'd pick a weakness that wasn't too damaging to reveal for that particular job. Your weakness doesn't have to be relevant to every job.

Here is an excerpt from an article about typical interview questions: "What are your weaknesses?" It’s important not to sound canned and say that you “work too hard.” Rather, share one example of a weakness and how you’ve learned from it and are working on overcoming the challenge. When asked "What are your weaknesses?," it’s important not to sound canned and say that you “work too hard.” Rather, share one example of a weakness and how you’ve learned from it and are working on overcoming the challenge. It's okay to have a real weakness, as long as you have a strategy for how to overcome that weakness. http://www.fpcnational.com/typical-interview-questions.html

Whatever you choose as a weakness make sure it wouldn't impact on the job you are applying for and always say ÿou are working on the problem. It lets them know that you are willing to grow and are take responsibility for your actions.

Chocolate, most will understand and laugh.

I've always been told to answer with a quality that's not really a weakness, like perfectionism. Then talk about the steps you're taking to improve. However, sometimes I think there's not really a good answer to this question. I've not been hired for positions even when I gave the textbook answer to the question.

I'm tired with the job interviews. They are nonsense. Now I have my online part time jobs. I love my freedom.
-
I'm pretty ruthless in interviews. I tell them I am brutally honest and will tell you what I think. I have gotten hired from that simple question "Why should I hire you?" I tell them "because I like this job and if you give me a chance you won't have to replace me". Of course, I have quit after they did, so that's what they get for asking the stupid questions that no one can honestly answer. They are all designed to see how much b.s. you can tolerate to give you a taste of what is to come.
