-
We did not listen every weekend, but we did listen quite often.
-
Yes, I did.
-
YES;) And I still do;)!!

Oh yes, I was a great one for listening to countdowns on the radio as a kid. When I was 11 I used to copy down the top ten hits while listening to Murray the K on WMGM New York. This was back in 1958. The top performers then were Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry, The Coasters, and many others.
-
No, it was Tony Blackburn for me
-
Yeah, absolutely. I remember when this song was number one, for like, ever.
-
I used to listen to the UK equivalent. I taped it all, then spent Monday nights editing it down to the tracks i really liked for a tape to pay for the rest of the week. Happy days, in a lonely, misunderstood teenage angsty kind of way :)
-
I did!

I did listen to Kasey on occasion. However, I listed to a Saturday nite TV show "Your Hit Parade" as a mid teen. It ran from 1953 through 1959. The singers were Snooky Lanson, Dorothy Collins, Russell Arms and Gisele MacKenzie. Gisele was a real fox. She was the first TV personality I was infatuated with. They sang the top ten songs of the week. It was a TV continuation of a radio top 10 show that began somewhere in the 1930's.

EVERY Sunday :) I could only pick up one radio station that I could understand when I lived in Germany. Kasey was on it :)
-
I listened to the shows. Actually set up home-made wire anteana so I could pick up Chicago (not to mention Mexican border radio) from Louisiana. My father worked at the college. I convinced the library they needed to subscribe to Variety and the Village Voice so I could keep up with the music scene.

Every Sunday, after church!
-
Yes, I didn't miss it. Later on I would also watch Kasey on TV as well. One other feature I also had liked on his show were those Long distance dedications.
-
Totally! I used to set my alarm.
-
Yes I did for years.
-
Yes, like a religion. I loved the long distance dedication. I cried every single time.
-
Yes, faithfully every week! I loved that show. And also watched the top 10 video countdown that Kasey did...I believe that was prior to MTV. You didn't really see too many music videos before MTV started. I never missed the video show, either! And...what happened to the "M" in MTV anyway? I've drifted away from it. Seems there's never any music videos on unless you're up in the middle of the night? Or you watch the other MTV/VH1 channels on digital or satellite.
-
I don't know when I found out Kasey was on the radio.. I always watched the tv show! ((hugs)) T!
-
Every Sunday for about 5 years back in the 1970's.
-
Wow - Kasey Kasem - and you've reminded me of "Cousin Brucie" too! Don't know how I would have survived if not for those voices .. let alone the music they brought us. Shoot, I remember when I got my first transistor radio too with that round dial (praying it would bring in my stations ..) as it spun through the static .. but I've digressed! (sorry) Yes .. those voices were a teenager's lifeline to what was "really goin' on". :)

I have been listening to the top 40 countdown every Sunday since Remembrance Sunday 1978. I was 13 then. I still listen to the top 40 countdown even though I'm now 43.
