  • I believe it to be the wrong choice in most circumstances. However,I do believe in the right to choose. I think we should give the right to women, to govern what ever is inside of their bodies, and have faith that most of them will make the right choice and only abort in extreme circumstances
  • i think that, except in a few very select instances, it is very mean and selfish.
  • Inhumane unless it's to save the life of the mother, which accounts for about 1% of abortions. 98% of the time, it's a convenient way to get rid of a kid you don't want.
  • I don't like it, and would find myself having trouble doing it even if I was raped (I adore children and babies) but I believe its a woman's right to choose what she does with her body, and in some instances its more reasonable then adoption, to many unwanted children already, and adoption (regardless of what people think) isn't a perfect solution, it comes with its own set of problems.
  • I would like to see women stop choosing abortion.
  • It ends the life of a separate, genetically human (ie, "human"), and genetically distinct being, so it should only be allowed if to continue the pregnancy would endanger the life of the mother.
  • I don't know that I have one anymore. I was very pro-choice for a long time but lately since we're close to becoming pregnant for the first time I have had to stop getting into conversations about it on AB. I'm just not sure where I stand at the moment.
  • I'm against it, it's killing babies :(
  • it should be illegal unless you can prove you were raped. that about the only time its acceptable. when you have sex, your pretty much saying that your ready for a baby. if your not ready then dont have sex its that easy i hate them girls that use abortion like its birth control one of the things that pisses me off the most
  • Sometimes it's necessary, sure people are against it...But they won't be responsible for helping that teen raise that kid. They won't babysit for that person that is going to school full time to actually have a rewarding career.
  • That is should be completely illegal!
  • I don't recall them. Have they had any songs that got radio play?
  • It's murder. Murder going by other words is still murder. Some have to make financial choices. Many choose money over life it has been aparent in the history of so called civilization. Some pregnancies are from rapes in this situation it is still murder. It is a good argument for an abortion. I can understand in this situation the difficult decision to make. In the end it is still murder. On the other hand the whole USA was claimed by murdering the native american. Civilizations are built on murder.
  • It's legal. There are reasons it needs to be legal. End of story. What bothers me are the people who cry "Murder", when they are the same people who speak out against sex education in school ("Don't talk to MY children about sex!"), making contraception available in school nurses' offices ("Now they're CONDONING immoral activity!"), and socialised healthcare ("I'M not paying for someone ELSE to get birth control pills!"). These SAME people then demand their uneducated teenagers carry these unwanted children to term (guess who pays for THOSE deliveries, over 1/2 of which will be via c-section at $10,000+ a pop?), so the children can possibly be adopted - but ONLY by good, God-fearing, married, straight, financially secure couples. Then, when all those kids that MIGHT have been adopted by single people or gay couples become uneducated teenagers, we have a whole OTHER round of unwanted pregnancies for your health insurance premiums to ultimately fund!
  • That it is a much debated issue with people polarised in their views who simply wish to argue whether or not it is murder and avoid the real issues.
  • It's something a lot of religious people rail against but if we were made in God's image and God aborts foetuses sometimes (miscarriages), why is there so much hysteria about us doing it when it's wise to?
  • It is a surgical procedure no more dangerous than an appendectomy.
  • Abortion: The answer to all of life's "little mistakes." No actually I think abortion is wrong unless the woman's life is at risk, but then again I think it's even more wrong of the government to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body.
  • I'm sooo in between on this issue. I personally don't believe in abortion because I am not capable of having children and I have a sense of envy for people who are pregnant and decide that they just don't want a child. My religion says abortion is bad and I think there should be other methods to have than abortion, such as adoption, owning up to your fate and accepting the child or taking more precautions when having sexual relations. On the other hand, I am for abortion because if the mother is forced to keep the child, she may take it for granted, ditch it in a trash can or throw it in the river... What have ya! Adoption places are full of unwated children and the miles of red tape make it damn near impossible to get one of those kids and then the adoptive parents are always watched more carefully than the biological one. I also believe that the father should be aware that the woman is pregnant, if she knows who he is. I understand that it is the womans body, but it does take 2 people to make a baby. The father should have a chance to claim the child and accept the responsibility and the mother should be able to sign away rights.
  • I believe that abortion should be a choice. A problem with the abortion perspectives is that there not opposite sides. People against it think its morally wrong and dont think anyone should ever get one done. People that are pro choice respect peoples decisions whatever they may be but dont say that an abortion is a necessity to have for an unwanted pregnancy. Also i believe in taking responsibility for your own actions. Everyone is responsible for their own life and what happens it it. We dont need people pushing religion and controlling everyone by taking the freedom of choice and the control over ones body away. This country seperates church from state and it should stay that way. In some cases abortion is a more responsible decision than having an unwanted child brought into the world hated and neglected. I dont believe the choice should be abused but it should still be a right. People complain about how its killing another human being but yet they can be for the death penalty and an agressive military killing innocent people within a different country... =)
  • I've answered the question so many times here on AB, I'm just going to say it is morally wrong.
  • A million times YES
  • Thirfty got it right. Next question please. One that still has life in it.
  • Yes. Whenever we use rationalisation or rights or utilitarianism to justify killing or murdering a child, then morals have already been crossed.
  • Depends on who's morality you're judging it by... I think in many cases it is morally the better choice.
  • i'm pro-death at any age within or without the womb. so i might be the wrong person to ask : /
  • It's only immoral if the woman is forced to have one, as in PRC. It's the woman's body and the fetus is part of her body until the moment of birth. I know that one can argue semantics of "viability outside the uterus". No one has the right to tell a woman what to do with her own body. Certainly not men, such as myself. +2
  • I thimk it totally depends on the person and the situation, and their life.
  • Abortion is a medical procedure that removes a fetus from a woman's body. A fetus, by definition, is not alive...therefore it is not a "life". There is no question of morality....so to answer your question, "no".
  • I think its wrong and its murder
  • I've given indepth answers so many times on here. Here's the short version: immoral
  • I think it's right and it's common sense. While the argument that it's murder is valid in many respects, I believe the world is overpopulated anyway. If some crackhead woman wants to abort her crackbaby, I am not going to stop her. I think if the woman knows she is going to neglect and abuse her kid the whole time it is growing up she should be aloud to abort it if she wants. And what if a women gets raped and gets pregnant? Who are you to say she can't abort that evil spawn if she wants too. She should be aloud to kill the rapist too. lol... I look forward to your negative ratings. My opinion will not change.
  • I'm pro choice
  • Freedom of choice. If someone raped my wife and got her pregnant, should she be forced to keep it?
  • I believe in a Women's right to choose.
  • While I disagree with it, we have come far since the acient times of where there wasn't a choice. Thus, we leave it to the female to choose. Usually if she's a Christian, the baby has a chance. If a liberal, very little chance.
  • I think if there was an importance for it as the baby might put the mother's life in danger or it has serious deformities So yes but for any other reason So Nooooooooooooo!!!!!
  • A women has the right to choose. Science can document that Three cells are not a life. It becomes wrong once the fetus has a Brain and can feel pain. Three cells have no Heart, no Brain and no sense of awareness. They are not sentient. All arguments that dispute this are illogical nonsense.
  • It exists and is the basis of way to many discussions by polarised people trying to change someones opinion to match their own.
  • One word MURDER
  • I'm so on the fence with this issue that my bottom hurts! I can understand the passionate reasons on both sides of the issue. And I doubt either side will convince many people on the other side to change their views.
  • I don't like it. However you rationalize it, it's killing a baby in his or her early stages. Any mother of a beautiful child can say,"I had the power to kill him or her in the womb if I didn't want the kid before being born. It's barbaric and facile, and the pro-choice arguments in my opinion are illogical and stupid.
  • Here's what I think - If a child had been made during a attack then the girl should have the right to abort, who wants to have their attackers child? - If your not read for a child then wear protection, abortion shouldn't be a alternative to protection. - A lot of girls getting abortions in their teens and sometimes younger... simple, you shouldnt even be thinking about sex yet.
  • its a woman right to choose, her body
  • Ok; this topic has been beat to death here on A/B .... However; I believe that with all the Birth Control / Contraceptive Devices and Medicines on the market today ; there is absolutely NO need for an Abortion .... Taking the life of an innocent child is just a lazy woman's way for not ahving to accept any responsability for not taking proper precautions ... AND; what about the "Morning After Pill" ? You "Forget" to take the birth control pill, use you devices , even forget to have him use a condom ... BUT: you CAN take the "Morning After Pill" and not have to worry about a child being born ... Even in RAPE; go get the Morning After Pill and NO pregnacy !! and you don't have to take a life ... Abortion is the Slaughter/ Murder of an innocent ... I believe from the moment it has a Heartbeat ; and there is LIFE; you have a child ... Has anyone seen the Abortion videos where they Pickle the baby first ; then pull it out of the mother .. piece by piece , just like a Butcher cuts up a cow or pig ... ? Just watch one of those ... ONCE ... then say youa re infavor of Abortion ... and YOU have NO Heart ... +5
  • Short answer: Just because it is not something that I would do personally, that doesn't mean that I find myself in a position to make such a decision for another person, or to judge them for whichever decision they make - especially if "morals" (which are subjective) factor into my decision or theirs. Choice ultimately translates into sexual/corporal autonomy. It should be up to the individual - not the government or the "majority" - to decide where their morals and values lie.
  • I am for it because a woman has the right to choose what she wants to do with her body.
  • I personally don't consider the fetus a person until it has entered the world. So to me, it's not killing someone. And abortions can make a lot of situations better. Lets say a teenage girl gets knocked up or raped. She's still in high school and a baby just doesn't fit in with her plans. That's when an aboration is a good choice to have. To sum it up, abortion should be the womans choice, since she is the one who will have to live with that decision. And she also doesn't have to go through child birth:)
  • I cant make up my mind on this one. My two theories: 1. Would you think twice about killing a spider? Its a living thing? 2. Its a persons own decision but a Priest told me not to assist a person. I was in this situation with a friend before. I was young at the time and I didnt know how I felt, it was killing me inside. I have tried not to think about it since.
  • ending a LIFE.....
  • A surgical procedure of light to moderate risk, about on par with an appendectomy.
  • I wish there weren't any.
  • its wrong wrong WRONG!!!
  • I consider it a highly immoral act. It shows complete disregard for human life in its earliest stages. The fact that it's legal and considered morally acceptable is deeply disturbing to me; it's an abomination.
  • Think BEFORE you have sex.
  • back alley abortions in mexico are the safest alternative!
  • Don't have one -- and don't make it illegal!!
  • I favor Bill Clinton's formulation of 'safe, legal and rare'. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be getting particularly rare though. . Legal abortion is the least worst policy.
  • Very deeply wrong. As bad as killing a live baby.
  • this is a duplicate. we have 1000 questions like this. check before you ask. i'll just flag this now.
  • I find it extremely wrong and a way for people to be able to keep being irresponsible for their actions.
  • I am against it. It just becomes an easy way out of a mistake. People don't have to take responsibility. They take the life of a baby as a convinience.
  • I think we have the right to kill babys if we want to. If you're ok with war, you should be ok with abortions
  • I believe it's a womens right.
  • People keep using this word "freedom" when talking about choice, what about the freedom to live?
  • I think it's a choice. Hell, I would have one. Besides, I prefer demon babies, with their cute little horns and fangs. Cuz I'm weird like that. :)
  • Exceptional circumstances only i.e. RAPE. Otherwise take the morning after pill.
  • I don't feel that abortion should be a form of contraceptive. I know plenty of women who have abortions like they change their underwear. You should protect yourself before having sex if you don't intend on keeping a baby. There are ways to prevent it beforehand. I can't throw a stone at someone who has had an abortion because I'm one of those people. My reasons were that I miss my birth control and double up the next day. However, I am a single mom and financially I just couldn't do it. I'm not even with the guy today so in a way I'm glad I did it and not glad at the same time. It does sadden when I think of how old that child would've been. I know better now so that I'm not repeating that same mistake and feeling horrible after. +6
  • That its ultimately the womens choice and us(men) have no real comprehension about what it takes to make this kind of decision. That being said, I am totally against it being used as a form of birth control.
  • Let the guy and girl pay for it. It pisses me off to know my tax dollars may be paying the bill because some woman can't keep her knees together or at least get the guy to use a condom.
  • i am wise... i made my guys use condoms when i was on the pill. so i never had to make this decision. i think it is murder but i will not be two faced about it. i can see that for some women it is the right choice and they are the ones that have to live with the choice they made.. so in the end is not any of my business. +5
  • It's both a victory for civil rights and an incredible tragedy.
  • Abortion is one of the easiest ways to kill people. Fetuses have not been known to carry weapons, and are poorly trained in hand-to-hand combat. Some day it will be legal to kill any age person in order to protect your freedom of choice. But until then, you'll have to make do with killing the tiny ones.
  • That everybody is doing it.
  • My opinion on this subject has always been the same, it is a highly personal decision. No ones business unless you are directly involved!
  • It's not my business.
  • I think it is wrong because it fundamentally goes against human morals. Some reasons why: 1. All life is sacred. Whether you are religious or not, you cannot dispute this. By taking someone else's life into our own hands we violate this. Which leads me to my next point. 2. The fetus has the same human rights as you or I. He or she has just as much of a right to live as anyone else on this earth, because they are just as much human. This is something many people overlook. 3. To the people saying, "It is better for them to be dead than to live a crappy life." So you don't think that baby would not have enjoyed life at all? I know a lot of poor people, and I know a lot of rich people. Guess what? The poor people are equally happy as the rich people. I don't know exactly why, but I would imagine it is because we find joy in non-material things. The poor and the rich are equal when it comes to owning non-material things, and actually sometimes the poor have more. To say they would not be happy because they would be poor is shallow and materialistic. I am sure they would have enjoyed life just as much as you or I. 4. Testimony of abortion survivor Gianna Jessen before the Constitution Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee on April 22, 1996: "My name is Gianna Jessen. I am 19 years of age. I am originally from California, but now reside in Franklin, Tennessee. I am adopted. I have cerebral palsy. My biological mother was 17 years old and seven and one-half months pregnant when she made the decision to have a saline abortion. I am the person she aborted. I lived instead of died. Fortunately for me the abortionist was not in the clinic when I arrived alive, instead of dead, at 6:00 a.m. on the morning of April 6, 1977. I was early, my death was not expected to be seen until about 9 a.m., when he would probably be arriving for his office hours. I am sure I would not be here today if the abortionist would have been in the clinic as his job is to take life, not sustain it. Some have said I am a "botched abortion", a result of a job not well done. There were many witnesses to my entry into this world. My biological mother and other young girls in the clinic, who also awaited the death of their babies, were the first to greet me. I am told this was a hysterical moment. Next was a staff nurse who apparently called emergency medical services and had me transferred to a hospital. I remained in the hospital for almost three months. There was not much hope for me in the beginning. I weighed only two pounds. Today, babies smaller than I was have survived. A doctor once said I had a great will to live and that I fought for my life. I eventually was able to leave the hospital and be placed in foster care. I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a result of the abortion. My foster mother was told that it was doubtful that I would ever crawl or walk. I could not sit up independently. Through the prayers and dedication of my foster mother, and later many other people, I eventually learned to sit up, crawl, then stand. I walked with leg braces and a walker shortly before I turned age four. I was legally adopted by my foster mother's daughter, Diana De Paul, a few months after I began to walk. The Department of Social Services would not release me any earlier for adoption. I have continued in physical therapy for my disability, and after a total of four surgeries, I can now walk without assistance. It is not always easy. Sometimes I fall, but I have learned how to fall gracefully after falling 19 years. I am happy to be alive. I almost died. Every day I thank God for life. I do not consider myself a by-product of conception, a clump of tissue, or any other of the titles given to a child in the womb. I do not consider any person conceived to be any of those things. I have met other survivors of abortion. They are all thankful for life. Only a few months ago I met another saline abortion survivor. Her name is Sarah. She is two years old. Sarah also has cerebral palsy, but her diagnosis is not good. She is blind and has severe seizures. The abortionist, besides injecting the mother with saline, also injects the baby victims. Sarah was injected in the head. I saw the place on her head where this was done. When I speak, I speak not only for myself, but for the other survivors, like Sarah, and also for those who cannot yet speak ... Today, a baby is a baby when convenient. It is tissue or otherwise when the time is not right. A baby is a baby when miscarriage takes place at two, three, four months. A baby is called a tissue or clumps of cells when an abortion takes place at two, three, four months. Why is that? I see no difference. What are you seeing? Many close there eyes... The best thing I can show you to defend life is my life. It has been a great gift. Killing is not the answer to any question or situation. Show me how it is the answer. There is a quote which is etched into the high ceilings of one of our state's capitol buildings. The quote says, "Whatever is morally wrong, is not politically correct." Abortion is morally wrong. Our country is shedding the blood of the innocent. America is killing its future. All life is valuable. All life is a gift from our Creator. We must receive and cherish the gifts we are given. We must honor the right to life." 5. It is not a painless way to end the fetus's life. To put a fetus through the kinds of torture it can go through during an abortion is sick and inhumane. From a letter to President Reagan from the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology: "Real time ultrasonography, fetoscopy, study of the fetal EKG (electrocardiogram) and fetal EEG (electroencephalogram) have demonstrated the remarkable responsiveness of the human fetus to pain, touch, and sound. That the fetus responds to changes in light intensity within the womb, to heat, to cold, and to taste (by altering the chemical nature of the fluid swallowed by the fetus) has been exquisitely documented in the pioneering work of the late Sir William Lily — the father of fetology." Taken from this website http://www.abortionfacts.com/.../..._them_both_14.asp "A Realtime ultrasound video tape and movie of a 12- week suction abortion is commercially available as, The Silent Scream, narrated by Dr. B. Nathanson, a former abortionist. It dramatically, but factually, shows the pre-born baby dodging the suction instrument time after time, while its heartbeat doubles in rate. When finally caught, its body being dismembered, the baby’s mouth clearly opens wide — hence, the title (available from Heritage House '76 at http:www.heritagehouse76.com). Proabortionists have attempted to discredit this film. A well documented paper refuting their charges is available from National Right to Life, 419 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20004, $2.00 p.p. A short, 10-minute video showing the testimony of the doctor who did the abortion in Silent Scream definitely debunks any criticism of Silent Scream’s accuracy. The Answer, Bernadel, Inc., P.O. Box 1897, Old Chelsea Station, New York, NY, 10011." Now tell me you didn't feel sorry for that fetus while you read that. Tell me it would have been better off if Gianna was dead. That is why abortion is so wrong. We fail to think about the fetus, about ITS rights, ITS feelings, not ours. To those who are 'Pro-choice:' What if the fetus had a choice? What do you think it would choose? Thank you for your time (assuming you read this whole thing). If you agree or disagree with me about anything, then please comment respectfully, and I will comment respectfully back.
  • My opinion is it's more than a matter of opinion, it's a matter of life and death.
  • WOW! really controversial question... if she has a really soft heart she will keep it but will have a stronger one for letting it go. But that's just me. it would be even harder to let it go because its still a child. i can understand both sides of the situation. i don't choose but i go more for freedom of choice.
  • I would never do it if I were put in that situation. However, I do believe that people should have the choice. To each person, it's there decision. If they want to kill an infant then they will live with that choice. I myself say its immoral and an easy way out, but I also believe that maing that decision for every woman is not right either. If they chose to have an abortion it is their problem not mine. At least they have the choice and maybe they will learn from their mistakes and use contraceptives next time....
  • That it's been beat to death on this site
  • I think that with all the childless couples that have been on a waiting list for years, that there are better options than abortion.
  • this is going to sound very angry and disassociated. So..killing is killing, but there is a time and a place for everything. I'm ♂ so my feelings here are meaningless at best, hurtfull and ignorant at worse. But I vote pro-choice.
  • Murder!!!!!
  • I think that a woman should have the option if she was raped or molested. If its just a normal situation then i think it should be banned.
  • Early development prototype of the Obama Death Panel. The fetus obviously didn't vote Obama, so kill them now so they won't vote against Obama come 18 years from now -- how long The Great One thinks he'll be Dicktator (<- Not a typo) of the World.
  • I am pro choice.
  • I'm revising my answer because I see that the question is now phrased differently, and I respect the fact that it's been changed. So, my answer is now: it makes me uneasy, but the final decision -- which is a difficult one -- has to be made by the woman who is pregnant.
  • I don't think so but if it is I am sure God can deal with it without anyone's help.
  • Isn't condemning people a sin? For those who don't agree with abortion-do something about it; stop flaming people online and go out and make a fucking difference.
  • Not in my opinion. Some people will tell you otherwise. Ultimately, I think you need to search your own heart and mind and determine for yourself. Besides, if you feel you messed up God forgives right? +5
  • Abortion is a medical procedure.
  • I wouldn't do it, but it's not up to me to decide what everyone else can/should do. It's other people's lives, and they can do whatever they want, I'm not going to judge. People don't get abortions to get abortions- they do it for specific reasons. They can't support a kid, too young, already have too many kids. Even if the parents are just selfish and want their lives to themselves, I'd rather them not have a kid anyways. I don't want a bunch of selfish unwanted brats walking around everywhere. It's wrong to tell people what they can/can't do with their bodies when you don't even know details.
  • Miscarriages are abortions caused by god. Are you implying god sins?
  • Isn't bringing a life into the world who grows up feeling they are nothing but a pain in your ass a sin? That ruins lives, too. Which is worse, I wonder? Maybe the question should be, isn't screwing without a condom a sin? +5
  • The act of getting an abortion is a sin but it is forgivable (spelled wrong?). Humans are not suppose to judge others so no church or member of it should turn their back on a woman who chooses to have one. Now if that woman recklessly has constant sex, gets pregnant because she's too lazy to use protection and has repeated abortions, that's different. But she would still be forgiven!
