Totally erase your hard drive, or just replace it better yet. Open up your computer and vacuum out all of the dust. Wipe it down to get rid of the dirt on it, and put it in a nice box full of packing peanuts or something.

Easy, download the ultimate boot cd. On that disc you will find some hard drive nuking software. Choose the DOD preferred method and depending on the size of the drive the process may take several days or longer. Step two, find the original system restore disc or Windows XP CD and boot from it in the same manner in which you booted the Ultimate Boot CD. Choose to install it to the C: drive. After you have finished installing, run Microsoft Update and patch then system and reboot. Start Microsoft Update again and keep repeating the reboot-update cycle until no more updates can be downloaded. Finally visit the home page of your computer makers support and download section, then proceed to download and install all the latest drivers (bios and drivers ONLY) for your system. Be sure that if a BIOS update is available that you perform that update only after a fresh reboot, install the BIOS update alone, then immediately reboot.
