  • Everyone says "so we dont repeat the same mistakes" yet we do. In fact, we repeat them often to an even worse degree... However, I do think that we learn from others' attitudes, behaviours, deeds, creations, be these people dead or alive.

  • So that it isn't repeated. To get a sense of identity. To just know about the world and what's happened in the past. It's so important. It's too easy to just live in a bubble and not think about anything but the present.
  • There's richness of wisdom found in history. Every political-religious-social-economical conditions every nation finds itself in presently, is connected to a past history. Too many events of evil nature took place in the past, but a lot of good things also happen. Neither the good nor the bad things should be ignored, overlooked or downplayed; for there are a lot of valuable lessons we can draw from in our struggle to build a better societies and better future.
