  • If they are contract labor, then its no big deal, and it would be hard for the feds to prove that they are paid under the table, rather than contract labor unless someone files a greivance and you don't have records of that expense.. If contract labor... The burden would be on the employee to have filed taxes and carry their own insurance if injured. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have something in writing with their signature stating that they are responsible as a contract laborer... But if it is proven that you are just paying cash with no other paperwork, there could be an audit and federal taxes would have to be made up as well as SS, along with some fines for not paying them in a timely manner. Then the state of Florida can do whatever their laws enforce.
