  • In my opinion, stealing is stealing!
  • I would have to think you will be seriously considered for the trip.
  • Not just for stealing a Bible, but for sinning in general. God's standard is perfection, and anything that falls short of that standard is sin. However, God has also provided a way out- the death and resurrection of Jesus, which pays for the sin of the world. Acknowledge His sacrifice, put your life in His hands...and make reparation. Buy 2 Bibles and give them to people who can't afford them- your local Bible Society will be able to help.
  • If you stole something and didn't repent, weren't sorry for it, you would be sinning and held responsible.
  • I do not believe in hell but I do believe that what goes around comes around and some day you will pay for what you have done one way or another.
  • I am sure that you are like me and have committed far worse atrocities than stealing a Bible. If one were stolen from me I would realize that the person who stole it must need it more than I do. hopefully God would use it to bring that person to A personal relationship with Christ and thus get them saved. If anyone wants my Bible they can have it. The scripture says that if someone steals your jacket give them your shirt also. God Bless
  • There is no hell, but the worldly law enforcement might want to have a say here.
  • I am not one to be the arbiter of another's morality.
  • Well I am sure you wont be on the top of the list for entry into heaven.
  • I don't think you'll go to hell for stealing anything-unless it's incredibly selfish, or you do it all the time.... and are not sorry. God has pitty for the lowly.
  • Stealing is a sin. You need to ask for forgiveness for any kind of sin you've made... then you're on the right path to Heaven.
  • I don't think so. Some Bibles are made to be stolen. Haven't you ever noticed the Gideon's Bible in just about every hotel room you've ever been in? They are made expressly for spreading God's word. Go ahead, take one. That's why they're there!
  • Perhaps somewhere on the list of reasons.
  • the answer to this question is NO. You will go to Hell, and there is a Hell, make no mistake about it, for refusing to God's free offer of Eternal life through His Son. Except a man be born again, he will not see the kingdom of God. Jesus words to Nicodemus, "You must be born again." To be born again is to acknowledge to God that you are a sinner, and that you are now placing your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, believing that when He died at Calvary, He was taking the punishment for your sins. Our problem is not specific sins such as you have mentioned, but the fact that by nature we are sinners. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3/23. FM
  • Nope..the people who put a pricetag on the so called word of god will for chargin admission to the word ;)
  • Man Hell is here, on earth, no matter what you've done you are going to heaven and you will be forgiven. However, you will come to fully realize what you have done here and live with it for eternity, that is the punishment waiting for all of us. My advice, minimize it!
  • That's a hard one. I hope once you stole the Bible, you read it, saw the light, and returned it where you took it from.
  • Your answer is found in that Bible. Kind of like in the book of John Ch:3 V-16...... :)
  • Of course not, there is no such thing as Hell.
  • thou shall not steal. you steal, breaking a commandment. you'll go to hell. steal a bible just adds to the trip to hell.
  • You never need to steal a Bible. If you want one, I'll give you one.
  • Depends on whether it was an Old Testament or the New one...
  • Stealing is a sin, but luckily God will freely forgive someones sins if they ask Him too. Buy the way, if you want a bible go and ask a church in your area they will most likely by happy to provide you with one free of charge...there's no need to steal.
  • Not if you are repentant and ask for forgiveness; also, I do believe God has a sense of humor; but all salvation hangs on belief and dependence on Christ.
  • I don't think it's that 'easy'. Like getting into 'heaven' for returning it?! ;-)
  • Oh, no, god would love that. Can you imagine what a compliment it is to steal a Bible? Ok, it's not as good as killing in god's name but still...
  • The only sin that condems a sole to hell is rejection of Jesus Christ. IIt is a sin but if their is true repentince, it is forgotten by God.
  • I suggest burning it to get rid of the proof.
  • No but rejecting Jesus Christ as Savior will.
  • Stealing is a sin so I imagine that stealing a Bible probably wouldn't help your case any. But to answer your question directly stealing a Bible won't send you to hell but rejecting Christ will.
  • Are you stealing it from a hotel, walmart, or a families personal bible that has been passed down for a hundred years? The first definitely no. You're supposed to take those. The last one would be very hard to atone for.
  • No, you go to hell (Lake of Fire) by rejecting Jesus Christ and dying in your sins.
  • What saves me from Hell? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, God see your sins, but He won't tell, If you are under the blood of Jesus. Our sin-full hearts are white as snow,Why!didn't you know? If we are under the blood of Jesus, give him praise and thanks, and what I have said you can take to the bank, under the blood of Jesus.
  • Not if you read it!
  • You bet your ass He will. God will have your head cut off and made into a trophy for himself. If you recylce a bible in the recycling bin, God will come down from heaven and serve you.
  • "Definitely Not!!"
  • Stealing is a sin. If it a bible or not its still stealing.
  • Definitely not, If you ask God for forgive. He will forgive you.
  • Hell is nothing but the common grave of mankind, for the bible states "the dead are conscious of nothing at all" Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
  • Is that a real question or just bible-basher-baiting?
  • Depends on what you do with it after you steal it.
  • Well, if it's put to good use, I don't see y not.
  • IIRC the Gideon's don't mind if you take one from a hotel room - in the hope of you finding salvation.
  • LoL...No, not if your sorry for doing it..and learn from it, and dont steal again...KNOWING you shouldnt do such a thing. A person only goes to hell when they know right from wrong...but knowingly does wrong...why? Becuase they are denying the God that is inside of them.
  • No but stealing a Bible may very well save them from hell if it was read by the thief.
  • +6 That is a hell of a question
  • I think the "when" "where" and "how" matter quite a bit. I recall hearing that the Gideons who put the bibles in motel rooms ENCOURAGE you to "steal" the bibles if you feel you need to, and they will happily replace them. So if you limit yourself to a single copy from a motel room, I think you're safe.
  • I don't think stealing will place you in He**, unless you steal someone's life. I think if you steal food to feed your child it is less a crime than if you steal someone's child (kidnap). While stealing is stealing..there are different degrees of "bad" in my opinion. Happy Saturday! :)
  • No. You are not supposed to steal at all, but if you steal a Bible, it sometimes means you are interested in reading it. There are not many things which will actually send you to hell. you may be "punished" in one form or another in life for sins, but there are none which can't be forgiven.
  • I don't believe that hell exists, so from my perspective, no. But from a biblical point of view: John 3:16 (look it up in that bible you stole) As long as you love believe in Jesus, you shall go to heaven
  • Reminds me of a guy in college who left his Bible on the coat racks one day as we were going in to lunch... I asked "Aren't you worried someone will steal it?" and he said "Nah, I figure if anyone steals it he needs it worse than I do".
  • there is never justification for taking something not belonging to you. however, there are circumstances that warrant understanding. should a person be held responsable for stealing an apple from somebody's property other than his own? was he starving? then i think forgiveness is in order. stealing a bible is never right, but again the circumstances are the determining factor.
  • You go to Hell for one reason, and for one reason only: What you believe about Jesus Christ. Do you believe that He died for your sin and paid your sin debt? If so, all you have to do is repent or say you are sorry for all the wrongdoing you have done against Him. Ask Him to forgive you and trust in Him. Read the Gospel of John in the New Testament of the Bible. If you want to know more, ask me and I will gladly share with you how you can know FOR SURE that you can avoid Hell and live forever with Jesus beginning right now.
  • stealing is stealing , a penny , a Bible, a weed eater....of a person's personal possession ,yes...of an orgs. Bible ,even if they give free, yes...until given...of a hotel,etc..yes...its all stealing..if its not yours ,its theft...why not ask??????? a Bible is something that should be free anyway..most every sect i know gives and has free....
  • no, once saved always saved no matter what crime you commit.
  • If there is such a place. I don't think it should make a difference what you stole, its still stealing. Its hypocritical to say stealing a bibles ok, but anything else is wrong.
  • Stealing or not stealing a bible has no connection to going to hell or heaven, but asking for forgiveness in Christ and believing in Him, means you are forgiven... so learn from it and don't do it again, and read the darn thing to learn other things we are supposed to do and not do.
  • I can not say if you will go to heaven or hell, it is not my place to judge. All i can do is offer words of warning. God calls us to be His sons and daughters. If we are the children of God we should act like it and follow in His footsteps (Jesus). Stealing is not a commendable act and is a sin that results in death, as all sin does. But when earnestly seek forgiveness from God through Jesus He will forgive you. After I would go to the person or place you stole it from and tell them what you have done and seek forgiveness from them as well. If they do not forgive you do not be concerned with them, you have done what is right in the Lords eyes. If they are hard and demand their bible back, return it (you can get one from a church free). God bless and guide you.
  • It depends. Not just any sin will send you straight to hell. Only mortal sins can do that. Sin is a deliberate thought, word, deed, or omission contrary to the eternal law of God. A mortal sin is a grave infraction of the law of God that destroys the divine life in the soul of the sinner (sanctifying grace), constituting a turn away from God. For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must be present: grave matter, full knowledge of the evil of the act, and full consent of the will. Most of the sins we commit are venial sins. Venial sin is a sin which does not destroy the divine life in the soul, as does mortal sin, though it diminishes and wounds it. Venial sin is the failure to observe necessary moderation, in lesser matters of the moral law, or in grave matters acting without full knowledge or complete consent. However consistent unrepentant venial sins can slowly destroy your relationship with God and become mortal sin. People die all the time with venial sins on their conscience and they will go to heaven. • If they learn from it and repent, no. If they use it to 'roll their own', yes. It's all about intention. Someone stole a bible out of my car. I just figure they needed it more than I did.
  • i might go to Hell for stealing money from the collection plate.
  • No you won't go to hell for stealing a bible, however you will go to hell for rejecting its message of Christ crucified and Christ resurrected.
  • 1 corintians 6:9,10 said "unrighteous persons will not inherit God's kingdom [ ] nor thieves" as God point of view stealing is wrong no matter what u steal. the bible does not say that tha person that die suffers, ecclesiastes 9:5 "as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing al all"
  • Not if you are repentant, but I am assuming this question was sort of a play on words or some kind of joke.

I will give you a thumbs up because I respect your sincere answer, but you just can't go to a church or a book store and steal a Bible. All believers are instructed to "submit" themselves to rulers and authorities as a good example. Titus 3:1 "Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,"
  • You won't go to hell for stealing a Bible. Although the principal of thing is "stealing," when it doesn't hurt to ask a church to give you a free Bible. Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

Very true there is no need to steal a Bible! Many churches are happy to give free bibles. You can even order them online. Also most thrift stores give them for free.
    • Jenny_Rizzo
There ya have it by simply asking.
  • No since everyone is a sinner. It depends on whether he chose you.
  • Jesus said that one sin is greater than another, so I think if you just did a few sins, you would not go to heaven, but not hell either
  • thats up to god where you go
  • Are you a Catholic? I have had Catholics tell me I will go to Hell for "that" on many occasions. But they have no idea that is judging. But nobody will go to Hell for stealing a Bible or anything else. The reason for anyone to go to Hell is not having Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
