Even in anger, never tell your child anything negative about themselves. Never tell them you don't like them or they aren't as good as some other child, or why don't you try harder or be like this kid. Children, never, ever forget the hurt they have when things like that are said..They have low self-esteem forever.

well, in their desperation to make me, their 5 year old with an excessive intelegence problem, believe in santa my parrents even hired a fake santa to come to our house. did not work and made them out to be not only wrong, but liars.

the worse thing a parent could say to their child is that they are not loved. arguments happen, tempers fray but love for the child should always be there.

Recently someone told me they heard a parent say that they are going to take their child some where and drop them off and leave them there. That is mental abuse. It is sooooooo wrong to treat a child like that!

my mother once told me i was stupid why i was only 5 or 6 years old.. i was old enough to understand. that memory has been with me until this day and has severely affected my self confidence.

The worse things you can say to a child are: Your lazy, that you don't love them, that it is their fault for their parent's problems, stupid, worthless, a mistake, an accident, unplanned and never will amount to anything useful. The worse things an adult can do to a child is abuse them, deny them their individuality, be indifferent to their needs, make the child an extension of themselves, treat a child like property, deny them a childhood, invalidate them publicly and expect them to meet the needs of adults.
