  • Are you from Pennsylvania? I hear that Scrapple is very popular in REeading Pa.
  • I'm from the Philadelphia suburbs. Reading is also considered part of southeastern Pennsylvania - a/k/a "The Delaware Valley" a/k/a "The Tri-State area". I had just about all of them. in my opinion THE BEST scrapple is "Habbersett's". BUT its not just the scrapple. Its how the scrapple is prepared and cooked. Many, many restaurants already have it sliced to the portion they prefer. THEN they do one of three cooking methods: 1. Simply dropping the scrapple in the deep fat fryer. The scrapple might break-up, causing hot fat to go in all directions. This is a total waste of time and good food. 2. Merely putting the portion on the grill or in a frying pan. This is better than methods 1. 3 Dredging the scrapple in all-purpose flour and doing the same as stated in the deep fat fryer - which is another "cardinal sin". The better restaurants and the professionals dredge the portion and grill it or brown it in a frying pan with bacon drippings. The taste and texture are terrific! This is the method I prefer.
