I was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval training center in North Chicago for about 4 months. That was probably the coldest winter that I've ever experienced. The wind chill temp was -62º one fine, sunny January morning. As unbelievable as it may seem, I went back there for Xmas, 1992. We went to the top of the Sears Tower and we had a great drive along the Lake up to my old base. We saw some beautiful homes along the way and I think we saw the house where they filmed "Home Alone". I also discovered that Northwestern uni and Skokie are in that area.

I've lived in Chicago for 4 years now It's great city, especially summer. Grant park and millenium park are great, place for world class concerts. Most of the events are free. Wondeful site, various international food, culture. Public transport is OK. Beautiful lake and tons of activities provided free by the city. I love Chicago, melting pot of various races on earth.

I have been to many cities and Chicago is the best. Scenic, numerous neighborhoods, home to over 32 fortune 500 companies, an educational center with more than 80, 000 college students within five miles of downtown Chicago. Despite a poor economy Chicago continues to grow.
