  • My 13 y/o daughter died after open heart surgery. I had 3 other children aged 11, 10 and 9, and yes they coped much better than either my husband or my-self.
  • Yes, I do. But I think it's only because adults really truly grasp the enormity of something like that. I mean...I don't know that children really understand the magnitude of "dead"...Gone forever. Adults have a much more complex understanding of the situation and so have a harder time dealing with it.
  • I think in some cases depending on how old they are, they cope better as the dont really understand whats really happened,
  • 8-13-2017 Children don't know anything about death. As they grow up they learn that they have to act a certain way, but maybe they never learn what that way is; that is what we mean by "can't cope".
