  • idk i thnk engsh neds 2 evlve 2 keep ^ wit da society... ;) lolz (I HATE "SMS language" and MySpace grammar and what-have-you.)
  • I think it makes a mockery of the language.
  • It's damaging to some people's comprehension of the English langauge, last I checked though, the language itself was alive and well.
  • I think it damages the English literature. I think in a few years it would be given the status of a language !
  • No. SMS language is a direct product of mediocre input methods (no proper keyboard). But technology will move on, and eventually remedy that.
  • Yes SMS language definitely abuses the goodness of the pure English language. It has now widely become a way of conversation of youngsters, this has been truly a WAY TO HIDE YOUR GRAMMATICAL AND SPELLING ERRORS. It is a bane to English..... For this purpose, I have made a community on the social networking website ORKUT. The link to the community is http://www.orkut.co.in/Community.aspx?cmm=65241621 Only puritans will be admitted.
  • It is definitely changing it, but that is a very natural thing. Human languages are constantly changing; always have, always will. No, I don't think it's damaging the language. I think there will always be people who are more articulate and eloquent than others, regardless of how the language evolves.
  • senior citizens and technologically unaware people would concur... anyone who has used SMS and written an essay or two would beg to differ
  • In the short term yes, in the long term no, languages naturally evolve, new words are recognized, just as old words become obsolete
  • i dont think so..we should be educated enough to know when to use proper english and grammatically correct terms...in text messages it isnt really necessary...i abbreviate words and spell things shorter in texts but obviously still am able to write a well thought out essay using proper grammar and spelling....
  • yes! do you know they even accept some forms of text language in ENGLISH exams now?! it's really thick!
  • No, it would not damage the English language. However the people who have grown accustomed to the SMS language will find it very hard to write proper English words later.
