that's when no local service is offered, you pay to ship it to the factory "depot" in somewhere you have never heard of & hope it gets repaired, if you ever see it again at all - most mfg's have gone to this system for the cost savings (to them) on small items. they will have one person work on just one model of set, the idea is to have what they need within reach & be fully trained on the product- what you get in the real world is it gets subcontracted to the lowest bidder who offers the worst service
