  • No i have a lovely lady dentist and she goes through everything with me before she does anything, any worries i have she puts me at ease.
  • Not the drill, not the sounds, but the dentist......... I only hope he/she has not been sniffing their own laughing gas. I hate that. when a dentist feels too good, look out!!
  • I'm not....my dad was a dentist so I kind of had to get used to it. :P
  • Afraid... No... LIKE to go? No. ;-)
  • Because my dentist flirts with me. I'm serious.
  • I am not at all afraid of the dentist . I am lucky enough tohave never had a cavity.
  • I had a panic attack when I was 7. I started getting claustrophobic and he wouldn't listen to me and kept doing what he was doing and I freaked. I knocked all kinds of things off in the floor, flailing my arms, I wrecked his exam room, or whatever its called. I've been leary of the dentist since..
  • YES. Petrified. I'd rather pull my own teeth out with pliers
  • Only been to him once and it hurt like the dickens.
  • Because the last one I went to HORRIBLY messed up my teeth!
  • Actually, he's a really nice guy. It's that darn drill...
  • I love the dentist. I actually wish I was one! or at least a dental hygenist.
  • Not so much afraid of the dentist as I am the cost.
  • No but I "fear the reaper"
  • Because of the bill...
  • I am not afraid of the dentist, I just hate paying someone that much money to hurt me. Excuse me, I'm going to go brush my teeth again.
  • I'm not afraid, but I should be. The anaesthetic didn't work when I had two teeth taken out for a brace. By far the most extreme pain I have ever felt.
  • Well the only time I went, it was an excrutiatingly painful experience. So I've just considered all trips to the dentist will be the same as my first xD
  • When I was four years old, I lived off of skittles so I had severe cavities. All I remember is gagging on that dental dam thing they shoved down my throat. It took me 12 years to get over my fear of the dentist.
  • Its his hair...freaks me out. :P
  • Im not scared...I just cant afford it. so I guess you could say the cost is what scares me the most!
  • YESS!! i am more like petrified b/c i am afraid of shots i guess u could say i am a big baby
  • I fear that once in awhile that shrill sound hitting a awaken nerve, the one where you jerk out of your seat.
  • Very much.My teeth will all rot out before I see one again.
  • Several reasons: The sound of the drill. I am worried about being pressured to have teeth saved when I'd rather have them taken out. I went to a dentist about 15 years ago and she didn't listen to me, didn't give enough anaesthetic, took out fillings that didn't need to be replaced, and besides, she had horrible rotten teeth. The cost. I don't have medical insurance. I don't mind paying for necessary treatment but I don't know if any dentists will accept a payment plan if I don't have enough money in a particular pay period to pay in full. Phoning and making an appointment as I am petrified of making phone calls to strangers. We have quite a shortage of dentists where I live (North Queensland, Australia)
  • Because they hurt!!!!!!!!!!!
  • When in secondary school, my parents decided with collaboration from the dentist that my teeth were crooked, and as such a trip to the orthodontist was arranged. Until then I had never minded the dentist too much, despite having fillings and teeth removed to make room for future ones etc. though I didnt see the point of getting a brace, I ended up with a removable brace for my top teeth, which was secured in by pinching on my back teeth, and had wires that went in between the problem canine teeth After the brace had done its work, (3 years at secondary school having the mickey taken something rotten!) and was finaly disposed of...... I got to enjoy my straight teeth for about 1 year.. it took the grand total of 2 years before my teeth started crumbling right on the points where the wires from the brace had rubbed my teeth from being put in and out twice daily for cleaning. Seeing your teeth crumble from the lack of enamel on them because some so-called experts and parents decided your fate at a point where your opinion didn't matter was kinda what scared me away from the dentists, and probably doing what my parents wanted any more too ! I have real trust issues with many so-called preofessionals these days as such... but have never returned to the dentists either. I should probably go again, if for no other reason than to get the mess the orthodontist made patched up. It just sickens me to imagine paying good money to have pain inflicted upon me by someone I have trust issues with, working on a problem caused by them in the first place, all because my folks thought I would look better with straighter teeth ! Rant over... and breathe !! :o) oh yeah... and the noise the drill makes gives me the willys !
  • Never been afraid. I don't like Xrays as my husband suffered from growths on his thyroid and vocal chords every time he had them done so I worried what does it do to other people, but the man? Nah!
  • I hate dentists because one i had many problems when i was little and it did hurt me a lot. Going to dentist is nasty.
  • Because he broke a pair of stainless steel pliers, pulling 2 of my wisdom teeth. He had one "old" pair left and said "if these break, I don't know what we'll do", LoL! I was never so sick as I was that night!
  • I like the dentist.... Hate his drill!!
  • Beacuse I find it inappropriate for a man I hardly know to put his fingers in my mouth.
  • have you seeen their tools !?
  • oh come on.. i am not afraid of dentist.. actually i am a friendly person and also i have a friend dentist that i met before and his tools are interesting to try out... ^^
  • I was abused by a dentist when I was a kid. I never told my parents and they kept sending me back to him every year. To this day my mother doesnt know. And now I am terrified to see a dentist which I wont as long as I can. They put Dr. infront of their name which I think is so wrong. They are not doctors they just want their money. They dont care about you like a doctor does.
  • What are you talking about? I love laughing gas.
  • I'm not. I usually end up going to sleep and the dentist has to wake me so I will keep my mouth open.
  • im not:)
