  • Um, what do you mean by silk sheets? If you mean silk comforters, then I can tell you from experience. My grandmother went to China for a trip (I'm Chinese, go figure) and bought two (or more) silk comforters for a very expensive price, to guarentee quality and authenticity. It's very soft when you sleep under it, and, strangely, it feels light but tight around your body, and hence traps your body heat. But it's not like it's very stifling. There is some breathability to it. All I know is, if you want to buy them, high quality = high price. Now, don't spend a fortune on them, but if you want a good one, don't be a penny pincher with these.
  • Silk sheets in a warm climate are fine, however if you live in an area where it's cold, then they are not so comfortable. They tend to slide off in the middle of the night, taking the blanket with them and you wake up in a fetal position in the center of the mattress with your teeth chattering from frostbite. Plus, they are loud against your ear and your pillow slides out from under your head. With the exception of an intimate interlude, they pretty much suck!
  • We had a set of silk sheets, and I donated them to charity. My hubby is like a portable furnace and he kept "sticking" to the sheets at night. We actually prefer stretch cotton jersey sheets. They are cool and comfortable and inexpensive. They are sold at Walmart, Kmart and Targfet for less than $20/set.
  • They can be comfortable if it isn't too hot or cold. They don't breathe well nor keep you warm. I prefer cotton sheets in the summer and flannel sheets in the winter.
  • I hated them. They were too sticky and clingy in warm weather and too cold and clammy in the winter. PLus everything you place on top...blankets, duvet, bedspread...just slides right off because of the slick surface. Save your money. If you must spend a lot of money go for the best Egyptian cotton sheets, super high quality. They can even feel as fine as silk but will have the wonderful properties of cotton in any weather:-)
  • I think they are brilliant, there's nothing like bein fresh from the shower, putting on a sexy negligee, slipping under the silk sheets and seducing your partner.
  • actually I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't like them. I find they just refuse to stay on the bed..they slide off all the time.
  • I don't care for them at all. They are just slippery and not that comfortable. Give me a high thread count soft cotton sheet anytime.
  • They are not the greatest. You constantly have to put them back on. They look good but that's about it.
  • I don't like them. They slip off all the time and do not breathe very well. I prefer flannel sheets.
  • I don't care for them. And they can be pretty uncomfortable when you need to shave.
  • Eh. I prefer high count cotton in the summer and flannel in the winter. I would not use silk sheets.
  • I don't like them at all. I like cotton.
  • I really don't care either way, however I think my wife changed her mind about silk sheets, after she wore a pair of silk pj's to bed and kept sliding off.Silk on silk must be pretty slippery.
  • No they are not all they are made out to be, high count (600) 100% cotton is way more desirable and feels much more comfortable. Cotton has wicking properties that pulls moisture away from your skin (that's why it's comfortable) whereas silk and polyester do not have that property and therefore give you a sticky sweaty feel, and keeps the moisture next to your skin. Also cotton lets air through (more breathable) than silk. This again is a property that makes cotton comfortable by allowing your body to "breathe" while you sleep.
