Monty Python (of course), The Young Ones, the Goodies, Good Neighbors are the first ones to pop into mind.
-
I never laughed at anything that Benny Hill did. I just don't get british humor.
-
Ever see "The Young Ones"? Dave Allen at Large also comes to mind. Monty Python and Bean. Hugh Laurie and the whole Royal Family. (Yeah, I know that last one will cost me points. Life will go on.)
-
Monty Python, Mr. Bean, Red Dwarf.
-
I liked the series 'Are you being served?'
-
Red Dwarf Vicar of Dibley The Two Ronnies (in their day) Open All Hours Life of Brian Broken News Brass Eye The Day Today Never mind the Buzzcocks Have I Got News For you I could go on. and on.
-
I am a huge Monty Python fan and viewed the death of Graham Chapman as the loss of a great treasure. Though I have enjoyed the work of the surviving members, the whole was definitely more than the sum of its parts. Although I do think Terry Gilliam has emerged as an amazing film maker.
-
Money Python, by far! Benny Hill was genius though.
-
Coupling, Are You Being Served, Keeping up Appearances. Graham Norton, anything Dawn French, I could go on and on.
-
Thinking more: Father Ted (arguably Irish, though) 'Allo 'Allo Are You Being Served Porridge (But NOT the movie) My Family Whose Line Is It Anyway (Now repeating on "Dave") Keeping Up Appearances One Foot in the Grave (again not the movie length Algarve one)
-
I enjoy so many. Faulty Towers, My Family, Are You Being Served, Waiting for God and Keeping Up Appearances are a few.
-
Monty Python, Mr. Bean, and The Kenny Everette Video Show. Gosh, I used to LOVE to watch that when I was a kid. It was on in my area of Michigan at 11pm on Saturday nights, and I'd watch that before Saturday Night Live came on. This was, of course, when the original cast of SNL was still on! I haven't found many people who remember Kenny Everette here.
-
We don't see much of the newer British humour in the US now. My favorites were: The Two Ronnies The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin Fawlty Towers Monty Python's Flying Circus The Goodies Mr. Bean The Young Ones What was the police show with Rowan Atkinson?
-
There have to be some more: Dated now, but Morecambe and Wise were awesome in their day Much under rated, but Clarence (Another Ronnie Barker) was simple and good Did I mention Open all Hours? Not a comedy show, but Top Gear is hilarious In its day The Good Life. Some episodes are still piquant today Coupling Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Green Wing
-
Monty Python.
-
The Blackadder series.
-
My husband just reminded me of Absolutely Fabulous and Fawlty Towers. I loved both of those as well.
-
My father watched Benny. I never understood him, watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but I am not a real avid fan of British Humor, eventhough I may have British heritage in me. Monty Python is funnier then Benny Hill if I were to compare the two.
-
I have watched and enjoyed Benny Hill but when I think of British humor Monty Python is the first thing that comes to mind. I believe this is true for most Americans.
-
Absoulely fab , or young ones. both were good!
-
How on earth could I forget: Dad's Army To The Manor Born QI (ostensibly a quiz!) There was an odd one with Richard Briers. A comedy of embarrassment was it "Circles"? The credits had circular ripples propagating. He was "Martin" I think. Years ago Steptoe and Son was funny, as was Till Death Us Do Part, though both are now much more like social commentary than comedy, and the latter is hugely cringeworthy
-
Actually, I like Red Dwarf more. I immediately think of Red Dwarf, Monty Python, and Black Adder. I think most people don't watch much British comedy, so they only know what is force fed to them.
-
Monty Python, hands down.
-
Showing my age, but I love "As Time Goes By."
-
Black Books, Fast Show, Ricky Gervais, Peter Kay, Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey, The Young Ones, Billy Connolly, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Two Ronnies, Dave Allen...
-
I dont think you can beat Billy Connolly, Les Dawson, John Cleese,Ade Edmunds n Rick Mayall in Bottom...oh and I like that comedian from Bolton but I forgot his name :)
-
I loved the Black Adder series. It's so sad to see Rowen Atkinson doing Mr. Bean, when he's capable of so much more.
