Try to avoid pastel shades if you have quite dark skin. Instead, do for brighter colours such as reds and oranges for a bright, summery look. Of course, you can also still use black for a sultry and defined look. Another good thing to do would be to go to a store where they do free make up sessions, or ones for a small charge (you can expect to pay no more than £10). There they will test out different eye shadow colours on you so you can decide which ones suit you best. They'll show you how to apply it properly and how to take it off too.
