She didn't know. She's just trying to cause a scene and there probably wasn't even a fly in the first place. It sounds to me like she's trying to ruin the companies reputation by being a b-tch. No offense to the woman or anything, but that's my impression. -- edit -- [Oh man. I feel dumb. I just noticed this was a riddle. How did she know? Because she complained while it was fresh and he took it back and came back, therefore it was still fresh because of the time frame?].

I'm guessing it was because the coffee was already sweetened. If it had already been creamed, then he would have seen that before tasting it. But I'm wondering why he would have sweetened a cup of coffee with a fly in it in the first place.
