Since the rings and power batteries were nothing more than a physical manifestation of the mental energies the Oans themselves possessed, they could do anything the rings could just through the power of their minds. In addition, an Oan could serve as a living "power battery" to sustain the charge of a GL's ring while in his or her presence, as Ganthet offered to do for Hal Jordan in "Ganthet's Tale".
