  • Yes, other places do the same thing - Britain for example. Why is it dumb? Surely it is far more logical than doing it in month, day, year order. The most logical way would be Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, Second and the way you do it just reverses the first three.
  • Yes, many places do. I know for a fact that dates are listed this way in the UK and in India. I don't see why it is more or less intelligent than another order.
  • Many places other than Canada use the dd/mm/yy format, not just Britain. In fact, it makes more sense this way since there's an increment of the smaller time frame to larger one. Colloquially, we do say the month first. However, take a look at the US's referral to Independence Day. Do they not frequently call it the Fourth of July?
