  • Don't know about Minnesota, but it's probably similar to PA (where I officiate.) There is no national rule for visors because the rules makers don't want to get involved in certifying new equipment and have left it to each state to regulate such equipment. However, since the states all meet together, they do collaborate on such things even though it's not part of the main rules book. So, with all that said, in PA the shield must be clear (i.e.-not tinted. )and a doctor's note, which is also signed by the school's principal, specifying that the named individual should wear the visor must be viewed by the officials' prior to the game. I know this is way late (just joined this site), but maybe it can help someone else.
