  • Yes, as long as you treat them nicely and never allow them near children alone, they are normally very sweet animals.
  • Absolutely! Just raise it properly, treat it with respect just as you would your other doggies... they're a very lovable sweet breed
  • Yes, I love pitbulls.
  • no. i don't really want a dog in the future either way though, so my odds of ever having a pitbull are pretty damn slim.
  • No offense meant but it must be in the eye of the beholder that they are cute looking :o)
  • I don't have a problem with them. They are fine dogs when they respect a person as a pack leader. It's always the human's fault if they didn't become a calm assertive pack leader to their dog of any breed. THey are a stubborn breed and need someone strong, not abusive, but someone with no temper, very calm and the dog will respect you. I don't really want any other dog but newfoundlands but I would consider a pit because they are sweet AND cute.
  • Not at all. I have kids so any vicious dog is out of the question.
  • No I don't think so. I've heard too many horror stories to ever trust one.
  • yes yes yes ..wonderful dogs ..very very loyal and friendly ...its not the dogs fault that some owners are proper arseholes!!
  • Yes I would. It is not the dog that is at fault when you hear of a horror story involving this breed, it is the owner. I have been lucky enough to know several wonderful pitbulls. It is all in how the are raised and treated.
  • well, I like dogs, but I'm a cat person as you know...so, I probably will never own any dog. However, when trained and raised properly, pitbulls make great pets. it's the fault of the owner if a dog is vicious and attacks.
  • No no never. I am not a dog person at all.
  • Of course. I've seen pitbulls that were big babies. It's the owners, not the poor animals.
  • I can't say I wouldn't, since I go by individual dogs as my final choice. But, I AM mostly attracted to Retrievers...and mixed Retriever types...I just like that sort of dog most of all... But...then again...I've known an awful lot of different dogs, different breeds and different mixed and mutt types...as a trainer I've had the joy of meeting a lot of dogs...for the most part...I find them all wonderful in some way... Temperament rules!
  • I certainly would. 12 months ago I would have said "hell no"... But since then, I've had the pleasure of babysitting a pair of my daughter's Staffordshires... They were well mannered, well socialized, very loving. Those damned whip like tails will thrash a red spot on you in a hurry. Since then I have been exposed to about 7 others, only to find that they were a real treat as well. They do require special attention (or lack of certain attentions, if you will). A person with a temper might be well advised to avoid adopting one. They can be very hard headed and determineed. If you aren't patient, both you, and the dog are going to be frustrated, and that will cause problems.
  • Absolutely, I don't judge a dog by it's breed and I've known a lot of very sweet pit bulls. I myself have a doberman and I get a lot of comments from people about how vicious they are, my two year old nephew litterally will steal his bone out of his mouth and he just looks at me like "help". Dogs are only as bad as their owners...
  • I'd love one, actually. they're adorable, and cuddlesluts. People keep saying "oh, but when properly trained, they can still attack yo--" NO. "Properly trained" means properly trained. Sure, if you're some asshole dogfighter, a properly trained dog attacks. If you're my mother, a properly trained dog attacks the squeaky toy and brings it back. Great danes and Newfoundlands are in the same group of dogs. Saint Bernards too They're all Molossers.
  • Honestly, I wouldn't own one. Not because of the breed, but because I don't particularly care for that big bulky chunky look.
  • Not my style, nothing against them though.
  • Nope...not my kind of dog.
  • I might, if I could find one that wasn't butt ugly. Pitbulls are fine dogs if treated properly. However, they are a very powerful, gladiatorial breed. Dogs of this nature require vigorous exercise and firm, unwavering leadership every day. You would need to walk him/her one hour in the morning and again in the evening to drain energy and always enforce the rules so the dog knows who's boss.
  • quite a few people don't like them but just cause they bite people doesn't mean they meant to. The owner treated them badly and the dog got scared. It thought the person might hurt it and so it bit. So ya I'd own one, you'd just have to socialize it from puppyhood. There not my fav. breed though.
  • I have one and he is the greatest dog. He listens, you can take his bone out of his mouth with out a problem (there was a story about a pit bull biting some one over a bone), and he isn't really protective over anything really.
  • it's the owners who are stupid NOT the breed - but the breed suffers
  • I have two. I love them.
  • No way hose - they are illegal in England thank goodness
  • I have a pitbull and a pug. They get alone perfectly. It's all about training, pits are a great dog but you have to do daily training, start early and be consistant!!!
  • Yes I would. They are very good dogs. It's all in the training and treatment they recieve from thier owners.
  • No. I have a small child. No way.
  • the county i live in has recently started using them as police dogs... the dog isnt mean by themselves... its the owner...
  • yea, i already have one:)
