too old? More like to young
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure 33 isn't too old. O_o
-
I don't think that is too old. I think it is about the right age.
-
I know plenty of adults, my age and older that read Harry Potter (I'm 44). People of all ages read those books!
-
Your never to old to read books, any books. Don't let some elitist pig with a god complex tell you whats ok to read and whats not.
-
I think a very large portion of Harry Potter readers are adult so Sixth grader is probably on the younger end of the readers.
-
All my kids have read the series, and the youngest started it when he was 9 years old. They got me hooked on it as well. I cannot see where 12 years old would be "too old" to read it. Especially since many of the side issues that they deal with in the book actually do happen in real life between the ages of 11 and 17. Issues like bullies, first girlfriends, and even the death of someone close.
-
My Mom read those books up 'till her mid 60's. If she was alive now she would laugh at that notion.
-
If you can get a sixth grader interested in reading anything well done!!!
-
I do not think so ... I am 48 with a Ph.D. and I read them ...
-
I am well into my 20's and read them all! I loved them! Anyone that agrees with this opinion is just an immature little idiot whose opinion is not worth the air it is spoken in!
-
My 45 year b/f has read them all and seen the movies twice
-
My mom read the entire series as soon after they came out as she could, and she's nearly 70. You're NEVER too old to read and enjoy children's literature... and I'm not quite sure Harry Potter even classifies in that category!
-
I don't think so. I know 20-30 year olds who read them.
-
Absolutely not. They were originally written for middle-graders, but after the first book's success, even JK acknowledged her large and growing adult fan base. Read on!
-
I don't think you can be too old to read Harry Potter.
-
That's rubbish because EVERYBODY, apart from myself, reads Harry Potter - people of all ages. One of my favourite books is the Phillip Pulman trilogy, another supposed 'children's book'.
-
Well, as can be seen in the last couple of books, the Hrry Potter series "grows up" itself towards the end, so I think people of all ages can read it.
-
I read them at 22... I'm not really sure the books (especially the later ones) are suitable for younger children. I'm not sure they could appreciate/understand everything.
-
Yeah, I just finished the last book not too long ago and I'm 28. Definetely NOT too old.
-
I don't think anyone is too old to read the Harry Potter books!
-
What a silly opinion. I'm 41 and I've read them all. Great story. Sad to see it end.
-
I'm almost 42, I've never read a Harry Potter book, but I have collected the entire set of "Holes in the Nose" and "Everyone Poops" series of books. You tell me which is more mature and what you think my opinion is.
-
Absolutely not! I'm 23 and i've read them! Hell, I read the first one when i was 16!
-
Absolutely not...a lot of adults read Harry Potter. In my opinion, 6th grade is on the younger side for HP readers.
-
I'm an adult, and I enjoy the Harry Potter books.
-
Heck no, I know quite a few obsessive Harry potter fans in highschool (and i mean OBSESSIVE, like practically worshipping the books) and we don't think any less than any of them. They're just as cool as they've always been. You can't actually put an age limit on books (unless it's like see spot run)
-
Whatever! I'm twenty and I just read them for the first time!
-
That's ridiculous. Come on!
-
Too old? Definitely not. Hey, if my kids are reading appropriate books that are not too YOUNG for them, I'm all for it. Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power. It exercises the brain - always good in my opinion.
-
Absolutely not! I didn't start reading them until I was in my 30's.
-
my sister started reading the books in 5th grade they are great books and i have read them all. if u haven't read them u should!
-
absolutely not. my friends daughters are in high school and they read harry potter, so there is NO age limit
-
HEY i'm a sixth grader and i plan on reading them till i'm dead so this is compleatly retarded
-
pft, im 23 and read them
-
That is bollocks. I read Harry Potter at age 21 and I love the books. If some-one likes a series of books, then who are we to judge? J.K Rowling did a great job with the themes, the characters, the plots and the detail. The fiklms are superb, but the books are better, just. How dare some-one say that 6th grade is too old to read a good book. As I said earlier, That is BOLLOCKS.
-
I would say they're a moron, along with the "HARRY POTTER IS EVIL!!!" idiots.
-
Definitely not. If a book is written well, even if it's intended for children, then it can be thoroughly enjoyed by all ages. And considering how the Harry Potter books get darker and darker towards the end, it's even debatable whether or not it's appropriate to consider them children's books.
-
Opinions are like elbows: almost everybody has more than one. I'm 44 and I love Harry Potter books, and still re-read them.
-
I'm WAY past sixth grade and I loved the Harry Potter books.
-
i am 20 and i still read them, i also go to all the premiers... and my cousin is 36 and reads them... my grandma who is 70 reads them
-
Sixth grade is definetly not to old. I still read the books. They are great books and i imagine parts of the books would be a little challenging for a normal sixth grader. My little brother is going into 7th grade and he can't keep up with them. He gave up reading them on the first one.
-
I'm 52 and love the books. +5
-
Not at all. I'm in my 20's and I enjoyed reading the series.
