Barack Hussein Obama is an African-American who has not shared the black American experience and was, by birth and blood, a Muslim for at least 27 years. His politics are rooted in Marx and socialism. He is a master at shaping his own mythology and completely unqualified to be Commander in Chief.

Whether he did or didn't, proving allegiance through symbolism isn't what matters. It's making decisions and spurring policy change that help people in their daily lives. I understand that symbolism has its place, but making it the be all end all is just sort of old fashioned.

If that's true, I find it more than a little disturbing. And, no, it isn't acceptable and I don't understand how anyone can say that it is. I'm not even extremely patriotic and I still feel this way.

Typical slanted, biased, one-sided fearmongering. No one is REQUIRED to salute the flag during the National Anthem. In my opinion, a person much more clearly demonstrates their patriotism when they vote, and when they volunteer in their community. These actions go a lot further towards supporting our country than a salute - you know, actions speaking louder than symbols and gestures. And certainly louder than blatent cronyism.

I really don't care either way. There are more pictures of him holding his hand over his heart than of him not. I just don't see why it's such a big deal, or why the hell we're supposed to do it anyway.

I'm not American, but I fail to see why this such a big issue to some people. It's just a flag, after all. A symbol which isn't more important than what we make it become. If he doesn't feel it's important, why not just respect that?

How many times do we have to go through this???? When this picture was taken, it was **not** during a flag salute or saying the Pledge of Allegiance. It was taken during the *singing* of our national anthem, for which this was a completely acceptable and respectful pose. I wish people would take a moment to find out the facts of a situation, before taking something completely out of context and running around like Chicken Little (the sky is falling!)

Were it true, I'd think Obama was pretty much skrewed in terms of ever becoming president. However, the claims that he won't salute the flag (Along with most of the mud that's been slung at him) are %100 primo BS.

He didn't hold his hand over his heart for a National Anthem. For all Pledges of Allegiences, he does. In that picture that's making the rounds, WHEN was the photo taken (just before or after the Anthem? The video at http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp shows that it was during the Anthem, but few have actually SEEN that. The redition, itself, makes it difficult to understand the words!) What are he and Hillary looking at and what is Bill Richardson looking at? They are not ALL looking at the same thing, and NONE of those three are looking at the huge flag behind them. Does that make them unAmerican? He said he was taught that for the National Anthem, you sing. For the Pledge, you put your hand over your heard, and recite. So, you are saying that all those people at sporting events who simply stand facing the flag are un-American? How 'bout the ones who start cheering before the end? I don't think so.

This is a completely false allegation and one which you really should not be perpetuating. A little quick research would clear this up for you and so many others who are hell bent on spreading so much crap about the man. What you are referring to is a video where the national anthem is being played and Barack Obama is seen without his hand on his heart. Do you put your hand on your heart when the anthem is played? Most of us don't and it is not considered a standard practice during the anthem. The hand over the heart is done when we say the Pledge of Allegiance and there are a bunch of videos showing Barack doing exactly that. Of course, the still shot of this video has been deliberately misrepresented and spread around the internet by deceitful people claiming he is refusing to acknowledge the flag during the pledge and it has been necessary for honest people to counteract these bullshit claims by posting numerous You Tube videos showing him properly honoring the flag. Still, some people persist .... Sad. Also, just curious.... what's John McCain's or Hillary Clinton's middle name and do you make it a habit of using it when referring to these people?

I don't think he'd intentionally miss any opportunity to appear as patriotic as possible. The media wouldn't allow it either, seeing as how they already portray him as some sort of saint or savior (as in the picture of him with a halo, and those poor misguided souls referring to him as "a messiah".) No media bias in his favor, oh no, not at all. I think we're all in trouble if this man does get elected, which he will. We used to be against socialism here in America, but I suppose our distrust of it went out with our morals and our ability to discern right from wrong. I've already got my "Not MY President" bumper sticker ready, btw.

I haven't heard about him not saluting the flag. The more I hear about him the more anti-American he sounds. Does anyone else not see that his ideas are sounding Socialist/Communist? Do we want to go the way of the USSR (a failed idea) or Cuba (driving the same cars for 50 years)? I dont want the Govt or other countries telling me the temperature that I can have in my home, what kind of a car I can drive or what type of food I am allowed to eat! Obama thinks this is a great idea!

If you werent there, dont judge. PERIOD. I feel that way with any canidate. Also, its an indiviuals choice to salute to a flag. I dont do it constantly and it doesnt mean I love my country less, in fact, alot of the people I know who dont really "salute" during the Pledge help out our country more then the ones that do. Whether you do it or not doesnt determine if youre evil. Now when you see Obama wearing a "I hate (fill in race/relgion/coutnry)" button, then you can complain. And just in case you arent aware, there are a few religons that do not allow people to celebrate holidays anbd say the Pledge because it is putting something else before God (although I dont think he's part of any of them, if he were I dont know if that many people would call him less patriotic).

he is a civilian, he shouldnt have to salute the flag. saluting is a military thang.

He's taking the huge risk of offending many people who are serving our country and/or patriotic citizens...anyone who is president of the United States of America needs to be patriotic, or at least respectful of our flag. If it was Bush who refused to salute our flag we would probably impeach him (lol).
