  • But how many of those so called brave souls are doing this for the enlistment bonus and not for the patriotism? Don't they get 40,000 dollars when they enlist in a combat position like the infantry or armor! And if they're so valuable then why is it the longer they are in the service the lower and the fewer their reenlistment bonuses become? What does that tell you about how desirable they really are considered by the command people?
  • My wife is currently serving as full-time unpaid babysitter for a Marine's wife & child while he's fighting in Iraq. I'm not mentioning this to draw attention to us but just to give an idea to someone else out there--you can maybe do more than cheer.
  • Hoo-Rah. Semper Fi and remember, if you mess with the best, then you die like the rest.
  • OO-RAH
  • Thanks From a US Marine in the Infantry
  • Hurrah, for ALL branches of the service, including the US Marines. Thank you all for your sacrifice and service, both current, in the future, and in the past. And, to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, thank you and my condolences. Remember, too... In the US, there are TWO days and more, set aside to remember our past and current soldiers, and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. (Do YOU - ALL - know who in your family have served?) See http://www.orangefrogproductions.com/ofp2o_auth_artlet_veterans+memorialdays.shtml for many of mine, and comments about Memorial and Veterans' Day.

  • I've been in the United States Air Force for 22 years. My oldest brother, who past away last summer from complications from military service, was a Marine durning Vietnam. Whenever I hear the Marines Hymn, there will always be a lump in my throat and pride in my heart. No disrespect to my service, but you guys are feared throughout the world and smack down whoever gets in your way. From a fellow military member, I say HOO...RAH for the Corps.

  • Hip-hip-hurrah!!! for ALL members of our military! They're ALL putting their lives on the line for us every day! HURRAH FOR THE MARINES! HURRAY FOR THE SAILORS! HURRAH FOR THE AIRMEN! HURRAH FOR THE COASTIES! HURRAH FOR THE SOLDIERS! Sorry I couldn't put every one of you at the top of the list! Thanks from an old Navy guy (1963-67)
  • WHEN I WENT INTO THE CORPS I'LL NEVER FORGET MY DRILL INSTRUCTORS WARNING, "LET NO MAN'S GHOST EVER SAY IF MY TRAINING HERE HAD ONLY DONE IT'S JOB." IT DID CAUSE I WAS SO GUNG HO WHEN I GOT TO THE NAM I VOLUNTEERED FOR AN ELITE JUNGLE FIGHTING UNIT THAT RAN 3 MAN PATROLS AND AMBUSHES. WE PUT SO MUCH SMOKE ON CHARLIE THAT THEY HAD BOUNTIES ON OUR HEADS. OUR MOTTO: "IF YOU WANT TO COME THIS WAY YOU CAN BUT AFTER WE'RE DEAD" ONE DAY A COMPANY OF VC WALKED INTO OUR AMBUSH BUT WHEN OUR FIELD RADIO WENT ON THE BLINK WE WERE IN DEEP SHI*. WE HAD GOOD COVER AND THEY HAD TO ADVANCE UP A SLOPE. WE MADE VERY SHOT COUNT BEFORE WE RAN OUT AMMO IF THEY HAD KNOWN THEY COULD HAVE RUSHED US AND I WOULDN'T BE HERE NOW. SINCE THEY GOT DINGED EVERY TIME THEY RAISED UP OVER THIS EMBANKMENT TO AIM THEIR AK'S THEY LAID LOW AND TOSS HAND GRENADES AT US. OUT OF AMMO ALL WE COULD DO WAS TO USE OUR RIFLES LIKE BASEBALL BATS KNOCKING THE GRENADES BACK DOWN ON THEM. FINALLY THE RADIO MAN GOT THAT PRC 25 WORKING AND CALLED IN AIR STRIKE AND COBRA GUNSHIPS CAME IN AND SAVED US.WE KNEW WE'D BE DEAD IF WE RAN AND SINCE THEY DIDN'T CAPTURE MARINES THEY KILLED OR TORTURED US TO DEATH SURRENDER WAS NOT AN OPTION, WE HAD ONLY ONE OPTION AND THAT IS WHAT SAVED US. "LET NO MAN'S GHOST EVER SAY..."EVEN THOUGH WE HAD NO BUSINESS MESSING WITH THOSE PEOPLE I'LL ALWAYS BE PROUD OF THE ORGANIZATION I SERVED FOR THEY TRAINED US WELL.SEMPER FI!!!
