Beagles, are they inbred?? Like to a point where they are starting to get dumb? I'm coming to the conclusion that our beagle is retarded or something!

Yes, beagles are inbred but it is unlikely that your beagle is 'retarded'. Beagles are generally stubborn and selfish. Most beagles have been linebred. Very unlikely yours has been inbred. (Meaning Mother bred to Son or Sibling to Sibling.) Also it is a misconception that inbreeding causes retarded dogs. The only thing inbreeding does is bring the recessive genes to the top. - Sometimes they are great genes... sometimes they are less than desirable! However, Beagles and Scent Hounds in general take a special owner to deal with their stubbornness! :) Continue with the training - maybe seek out a professional trainer to work with you. Beagles (as I'm sure you know) are food motivated. Use that to train your pooch. Good luck and I wish you the best!!!! This breed is darling but challenging!
