"A coward dies a thousand deaths. A Soldier dies but once." from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar
-
I'd have to say just one truly significant death

Just one. "Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once." Julius Caesar (Quote is at 2:59 on posted video) A similar quote is in Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, "...the brave dies perhaps two thousand deaths if he's intelligent. He simply doesn't mention them.'"

The brave die once, however, if dying in the act of bravery, they will live on as long as his or her actions of bravery are recalled by others.

One, beautiful, glorious, painful death....remembered for centuries by those that matter.
