Never had it. Has a bad stigma to it. Hmm. Let's see what others have to say
-
Both, i like they way it taste but I hate some of the fruit in it.
-
I think it's absolutely delicious! It's pretty strong though... best eaten in very small slices.
-
YUCK !!!!
-
Love it!
-
Love it. My dark one is loaded with rum and my light one with Amaretto and Brandy and tastes of almond. Both good stuff.
-
I don't like what we call fruitcake in the U.S. I do like what they call fruit cake in the U.K.
-
I don't care for the American traditional fruitcake, like someone else pointed out. Maybe it's because I don't like dates or figs very much. I do love what I know of as 'Friendship Cake' It is a cake that contains many of the traditional fruits found in fruitcake. Those are wonderful, I think. So I guess it all depends. How's that for a non-answer? :)
-
Love it when it is iced with marzipam.
-
Hate it. Which is sad. You'd think it'd be better. Fruit, great. Cake, awesome. Fruitcake, nasty crap.
-
hate it I'm not fond of George W Bush either.
-
There's nothing like recycled Christmas Fruit cake coming back to you on Christmas after you gave it away last Christmas.
-
Yuck~Hate it!
-
The ones I used to make with my mom were awesome. Moist, full of rum and they 'aged for at least two months soaked in rum soaked cloth. They weren't all icky dried fruit, either. They had actual CAKE in them. But what passes for fruitcake nowadays is just a fancy doorstop and tastes like a fruity brick. Yuck!
-
Hate it
-
I love the fruitcakes I make. Fruits are presoaked in rum and after cake is baked it's periodically saturated with rum. Cake is so well preserved it can last for a couple years.
-
hate it
-
No. It is horrible and reminds me of stale old ladies after Christmas.
-
I don't like fruit cake. I do like Panettone though.
-
No, I can't say I enjoy it.
-
Never wanted to try it...It doesn't look like it should be eaten...Yuck... :(
-
In small doses.
-
I only like Fruitcake from two bakeries and they are both in Texas. One is Yahoo Cake Company in Sherman, Texas The other is Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana , Texas They are each different and great in their own way !
-
When it's made properly and soaked with rum for weeks and doesn't have too much fruit, it's very nice.
-
I like fruit, and I like cake soooo.... No I don't like fruit cake!
-
NO! And I don't think anyone anyone really likes fruit cake except to use it as a door stop.
-
Nah, I'm not to fond of ya.
-
I've never had fruitcake, but I smelled it once as a child. The scent wasn't particularly pleasing, so I can't imagine it tasted good. Although, I haven't seen anyone actually eat a fruitcake. I have actually seen them used as a door stopper, like someone already mentioned. The another fruitcake, I saw was in a family member's pantry closet...its probaly still there! So the impress I have is once you recieve one...it lasts a lifetime?
-
Love it made well :)
-
I would say luv it. It stays around for a week or 2 and I love to pick at it.
-
I love the ones made by the Texas Fruitcake Company. It has been years since I had any, but it was so good.
-
I've had one fruit cake in my life, and it was decent. I mean they still sell them in the store every year...so someone likes them!
-
I'm a fruitcake.
-
I am the only I know who LOVES it! I like a moist, darkish cake, and I love picking out the fruits and nuts as it sits around, until it's all sliced up and gone. I had a Collins Street Bakery once (Texas) and it was good, but if I remember, a bit dry for my taste, after all the hoopla. Are there any fruit cake connoiseurs out there to give me their opinions? I am going to come out of the closet and relish my from-now-on (in my adult life) annual fruitcake - all of it!
-
I've never actually seen one in person so I can't judge, but I have no desire to change that, either.
-
Its okay when I nuke it a little.
-
I actually like fruitcake. Yum. I have had some good ones too.
-
not a fan so - hate it
-
It was hate and then love for me. I used to hate it because it was much too sweet for my liking. Now I am beginning to love it as it is not too sweet. The fruitcake makers are getting to understand the taste buds of the ordinary consumers.
-
I've had some that are really good, ans some that are awful. The really bad one are the ones that are stuffed with citrus peel --yuck. The more real pineapple and cherries the better. There is a company Called "Yahoo" in Texas, I think, that makes a really good fruitcake. You can even get one shaped like Texas.
-
I like Jamaican fruitcake a.k.a. bun
-
I have only tasted one fruitcake worth ingesting. My exwife makes one she calls Friendship Cake. It takes her six weeks to prepare the fruit. We have been divorced for ten years but I still get one every Christmas.
-
Can't vouch for the name either but I definitely vouch for their cakes. Best I ever had.
-
People who like Froot Loops, Ding-dongs, and Poptarts probably wont like fruit cake. Unless it is absolutely the poorest quality from the dollar store, It is good!
-
love it
-
Meh, it's alright.
-
Nope, not one bit.
-
Actually I've never had fruit cake, so I don't know.
-
you can sell me a fruit pie any day
-
its iffy. only some fruit cake is good if it is fried.
-
Some of them. Most, no. My mother always made the best, soaked with rum for 4-6 months. Awesome!
-
Some of them, I don't like the old fashioned ones with tons of that jellied fruit stuff in them!
-
Not really. They are too much per bite. I fund dried fruit hard to eat and not to my taste. Now, fruit pies, that I really like.
-
no. they are the perfect gag gift. they make me gag.
-
Love it.
