I loved the show when I was young. I had the rubber, bendy characters also. But I watched an episode recently and it kind of freaked me out, really weird.

Yes. I just found out what actually happened to the infamous Gumby (and his pals). Apparently, before 'toy' lawsuits became common, a young, female employee of the Gumby manufacuter was at a company luncheon when the CEO came and sat down at her table to converse with the 'little guys'. Gumby's were being handed out as a promotional gift from the company and the young woman was given three, one for her and the other two for her daughters. The woman thanked the CEO but went on to tell him that her children would not be playing with them. When asked why, she promptly told him that the wires were hazardous. The CEO gave her a blank stare, then got up and left the banquet room. The CEO disappeared from work for three days only to show up and tell the company that they were shutting down!

I remember them. Every otner kid seemed to love them, but I was really scared by the shape of gumby's head. Now I look back and laugh at what a weird kid I was.
