  • Sometimes a cat will meow for attention for some reason. It may want out like the dog, be wanting some food. The cat may not want to stay in the room all night with you and is meowing to get out of the room. Signs of affection from a cat would include purring and rubbing up against you or climbing up next to you once you are in bed. Have fun with the kitty.
  • I've been meowed at because my little guy wanted to be petted. I guess that could qualify as a sign of affection... or at least wanting affection! Some cats are just chattier than others. One of mine is 1/4 siamese and it seems like he'll say anything and everything that flits through his brain... although, my male human does that, too. The problem is determining what she's trying to tell you. As Hank Ketchum said, "Meow is like aloha, it can mean anything." You can sometimes tell from context clues. If she's sitting next to the food dish and the meow sounds commanding. "Feed me," would be a good guess. Try to pay attention to other clues she's giving you about what she's attempting to communicate. Try some things out when she meows and see what gets her to stop. Is she bored and wants to play? Is she hungry? Of course, maybe she just wants you to hurry and warm the bed up so she can join you and take advantage of it!
  • Sure. but, cats and dogs are ever fearful that their master is going to leave. they suffer from depression, just like humans. at least, this is what my veteranian advises. Stands to reason, that once you are going to bed and not leaving the house, your cat calms down and settles in for the night.
  • Cats just love to be heard, mine is 1/2 siamese and never shuts up (i think she meows when she is alone too), around bedtime she runs up and down stairs meowing constantly until i go upstairs and get into bed, then she jumps onto the bed and meows until i lift the duvet for her to get under, then its on/off/in/out/in/out/on/off etc. etc. all night until she gets on the pillow and decides to put her backside in your face.
  • Regardless of the answer, know that cats are EVIL. The cat is probably casting some sort of evil spell on you.
  • Cats are known for being very vocal and some research has been done trying to map the "words" that they are saying. Siamese and related breeds are ESPECIALLY known for being highly vocal. If your cat is talking to you, it is certain that you have developed a good relationship. Otherwise, the cat would ignore you. Mine meows like that in the evening and tries to lead us to the bedroom because she loves being in bed with us. Nothing makes her happier. She also meows for treats, meows a sound that sounds like "Now!" and meows when she wants attention. Our other cat walks around talking all day long. He sort of chirps and murmurs, like meowing with his mouth closed. He also meows super loud if he wakes up from a nap and is to lazy to see where we are in the house. He yowls and we call him to wherever we are.
  • Yes! My cat does the same with me,and when she's done, she done.:)*+++++*
  • Well - my two little blighters meeow mainly to tell me they want more food. They just can never get enough (and I do feed them well). They seem to have the sense to know that when I'm in bed, it's lights out and no more chance of food till daylight. Little angels. Yes, I think they meeow for both food and attention.
