The only thing I bought was an old Coleco-vision game console. I cleaned it up and found it was in excellent working condition. I stay away from most other used electronics.

Sometimes. I bought a microwave from a yard sale, but I was destitute at the time. Generally speaking, I would only buy computer gear from a trusted source. I picked up a workstation-class PC from a company that was upgrading. And I occasionally buy peripherals or upgrades from a local recycle and refurbish shop. They're a great source for things like network cards and RAM.
