  • Well I am going to breed my rabbits soon. All i am feeding mine is a plain rabbit pellet diet. Make sure that your rabbit is not over weight or she will have difficulty giving birth. The day before she gives birth do not feed her so that she well not be lazy and tired while she gives birth. You may give her food back after you are sure that there are babies in the nest. She may have hay and water that day but no sweets or pellets.
  • Rabbits are lagamorphs and should be fed mostly good quality hay, fresh veggies and fruits, with a small amount of pellets. Breeding rabbits should be old enough and in good enough flesh but without being fat. Hay is free-fed and the veggies should be about 2 cups per 6 lbs of their bodyweight. Great veggies are these: Alfalfa, radish & clover sprouts Basil Beet greens (tops)* Bok choy Broccoli (mostly leaves/stems)* Brussels sprouts Carrot & carrot tops* Celery Cilantro Clover Collard greens* Dandelion greens and flowers (no pesticides)* Endive* Escarole Green peppers Kale (!)* Mint Mustard greens* Parsley* Pea pods (the flat edible kind)* Peppermint leaves Raddichio Radish tops Raspberry leaves Romaine lettuce (no iceberg or light colored leaf)* Spinach (!)* Watercress* Wheat grass (!)=Use sparingly. High in either oxalates or goitrogens and may be toxic in accumulated quantities over a period of time And also, this question was placed in the wrong category. There is a Rabbits category and even one just for feeding rabbits. So I have moved it there for you.
  • make sure they get a good overall diet of pellets, hay and some veggies not too much though. They need a lot more nutrition when they are carrying a litter, plus unlimited water. I have always given my rabbits ample food, grass and they have carried 4+ litters, all healthy. (except for one rabbit who I rehomed 1 week before she gave birth, and had a peanut) Just make sure you give it to them in moderation.
  • I have read in many places that you should limit there feed so that they are not as tired and lazy. Yes, I have also had rabbits kindle while eating. But, with my liters follow what i have been told and limit the food. You could if you wanted, limit the does food for the last few days. But not totally take it away. Whatever you think is the best.... :)
