If I could learn an entire language in a single day, I'd learn a new one EVERY day. Probably start with Spanish, then French, then German. That would be pretty cool if you could do that! Too bad it isn't that easy :(

1) About my background: In secondary school I learned three languages in 7 years. Well, not really. Latin and ancient Greek I could never really speak a you speak a living language. And I almost never read them and even not really understand them anymore at the moment. But I am glad I learned them, because it made my mind work better and I understand the origin of many words. The third language was English, but I had also the opportunity to spend some weeks in the UK and even once in the US. That really helped. Furthermore, I am confronted with English everyday in my work as a programmer. Later, I learned German, which became very useful because I am now living in Germany. I learned also Spanish, Italian and Romanian. And I informed myself about some other languages. Today I am glad to have the possibility to read some information in languages that I do not know using automatic translation. (Of course, it is not perfect, but you can get some idea) 2) I find the process of language learning very interesting. Incidentally, you can always learn things that you did not know, also in your native language. So you would lose something if you don't go through this process. Learning a language in one day would imply: - either get an external device for automatic translation: in this case you would not really "know" the language, but it could be quite useful - or have some kind of brain operation / stimulation / transplantation: I don't think I would take the risk, at least in the first 100 years of this technology... - or some kind of miracle. Nothing against miracles... 3) Chinese could be quite useful (inclusive chinese writing!) Or why not learn a language that no human knows, for instance the cat or the dolphin language?

That would be great, I would learn Spanish. I have Spanish speaking friends and co-workers and I meet so many other Spanish speaking people. It would also be an asset if I needed to find a new job.
