  • I bag, therefore I am.
  • If you don't want to believe then probably not. Because it is not possible to prove something to a person who does not want to believe it. If you want to believe then yes.
  • I will prove it to you when you prove to me that you exist.
  • I'm just a figment of your imagination.
  • If I didn't exist I coulnd't be typing this could I?
  • Not that I exist, but that someone from this account IS reading your questions..
  • Nope. Not convincingly. I could never prove that I am not a manifestation of your imagination.
  • No - I cannot. That's too much for me to undertake at this time - tough, tough question!
  • How bout if I mark you down/ Is that proof enough? lol
  • I owe the IRS. Is that proof enough? (Just joking!) =)
  • Well... ...I would begin by having you give me access to your checking, savings and credit card accounts.
  • Hmm - would you accept my points as proof that not only do I exist, but that I fall into the class of 'benign' when it comes to manifestations? ; )
  • I'm answering this question so I must exist.
  • If I could get in the same room with you and punched you in the nose, you would definitely know of my existence. Nothing makes something more real that physical contact. It is why people always say "pinch me" when they are unsure they are dreaming.
  • search the Internet for "Reijinni" That is my calling card.
  • Rene Descarte: I fart therefore I am! Or something like that.
  • just search for "Reijinni" and you will receive your answer
  • I type, therefore I am as real as you are.
  • Can you hear me now! I know another bad saying/quote!
  • Sure, come visit anytime.
  • I can if you can.
  • No, I may be just a figment of your Bag, an answer from YOUR subconscious.
  • You may think that I don't exist, but like the rash on the boil on your ass, you know I exist.
  • Not to you ..but to me: "I think therefore I am" (maybe I answer therefore I am)
  • I don't apologise for any question that I ask. As I got downrated -4 within seconds on your answer and you have a 71% '+ ratings given' rating (one of the worst ones on AB), my question is fitting.
  • Yes i can, go on, put your hand out and touch me... NO NO NO... not there... yes thats it...can you feel me??
  • ... just as soon as you determine whether I am a figment of your imagination, or are you one of mine ... ???
  • Nay, no more than you can prove that YOU exist!
  • It depends on what level you are looking (or how you are looking). On an obviously physical level you would be able to see me, hear me, touch me etc.. this would bear testiment that I do exist. On a quantum physics level, the particals (quarks etc.) that make up me and that of the physical world around me become blurry, as all of those particals form part of one big energy soup. The particals of "me" oscilate at a different frequency than the particals of the chair I am sitting on, but in essence the particals that form me and the particals that form the chair are the same. So looking at quantum physics, do I exist? A further question is: what does exist mean? Some people merely exist while others live. So one could ask: can you prove to me that you really live? Now this question brings one closer to the eternal question of meaning.
  • Well, how do you define existance?
  • why would i want that? maybe i am just somebody's fantasy?
  • haven't the foggiest
  • yes of cource! u can think so u exist. now can u prove to me that u think without existing?
  • Sure, I could make a video, put it on YouTube, post it here, wave to you and say hello. Edit to add: like this one
  • Heck Highlander, I can't even prove to you that YOU exist! Proving my existance is just too much of a stretch.
  • Nope. But it's more likely that you're just a figment of my imagination. =) Wouldn't two solipsists in a room together negate one another? Ha ha.
  • Can you prove to me that I don't?
  • Me writing this is not proof enough? :-)
  • Do any of us really exist? Or are we just on a mis-adventure through time and space bumping into each other every once in a while making contact. Maybe aliens visit this planet all the time but when they get here it's just a barren land? Hmmmm... not quite sure about that myself :)

  • Since I am a figment of my own imagination, it would be rather difficult for me to prove my own existence to you.
  • No I cannot prove it :D I could be a Turing Machine... I (and the entirety of Answerbag) may be a figment of your imagination... You may be the only being in existence and everything else, including all the other apparent "minds" you meet, is a fantasy... So you are now condemned to a life time of Solipsism LOL ;) Good question though :)
  • well...i can prove to myself that i existe. cos i can think and doubt.n if u can do that too why not existing?
  • To prove that something exists, you must put those decieving little senses that as humans we are so graced with, to work. If you can smell, touch, taste, hear, or feel something, we come to the rational conclusion that it must be real. But consider this, if we were to trust our sense completely, would we not believe that the sun dissapeared under ground during night-time? If we were to put full faith in our senses, we would believe that train tracks met in the distance. We would believe that the earth was flat and that we may suddenly fall off the edge at any instant. As Plato said, if we were chained up in a cave, and forced to face the wall and were never able to turn around, we would see various shadows cast on the wall. If we knew no different, we would believe these to be real. But if we can break from these chains and simply turn around, we will see that there is much more than just shadows there.
  • there is no valid way to show that we are not but a dream of somebody else and when they awake our life is over
  • Can you prove i dont?
  • Can you prove I am not a giant talking gerbil from planet Feces IV?
  • Aha, I exist because i am aware of my existance.
  • Come closer Highlander and I'll pinch you, let me know if you can feel it. ;)
  • Could I type this message if I didn't exist?
  • i cannot prove to you that i exist but can you prove to me that i do not?
  • I ain't joking buddy boy. I'm more serious than a heart attack.
  • I will send you my mirror, I see myself clearly in it every time I look. You just observe and then you will know that I exist!
  • I'm here, right!
  • I raed these, so I exists
  • Assuming that all humans exist similarly to me, you percieve my existence similarly to how I percieve yours. So if say that you exist because I percieve you, it is proof that I exist in your mind is a similar fashion. The only thing that cannot be proven is whether anybody besides me (the individual) has a existence outside of perception. This is because I (like all humans) can only define existence by my perception. There is no static reality.
  • I can prove that i exist but not that i am here in this exact moment. I exist because i have thoughts, therefore i must be something. however, the only thing that holds me here in this place at this moment, typing this to you, are my senses. Touch, See, Hear, Taste, Smell. BUT our senses are known to mislead us. We sometimes here our name in an empty hall, or see something that doesn't exist out of the corner of our eye. We can not prove that our senses are really fake, playing ticks on us all the time, and that where we think we our, who we think we are, and what we think we are could all be a lie.
  • Courgettes, strawberries, avocadoes, string beans , field mushrooms
  • Errr... no. I am actually a robot.
  • Prove to me that existence exists, and I as a figure of your imagination and that of my own imagination will consequentially rpove that I myself exist. How do we define existence?
  • Prove to me that existence exists, and I as a figure of your imagination and that of my own imagination will consequentially prove that I myself exist. How do we define existence?
  • After you.
  • I can definitely prove to you that I exist if you will get a little closer to my fist. by taxigringo
  • if i don't exist would i be able to do this?
  • I see you virtually and know it's virtual.
  • *Slap in the face* That real enough for ya?
  • As most have said, I answer, therefore I am! But, is that me answering, or some "Hal" like computer wanting YOU to THINK I exist? Does any of this exist, or is it one "Matrix" like super computer, continually spitting out new ABers to ask, answer, comment, rate up, and down-rate ITSELF, over and over and over .... ? Short of flying to where you supposedly live, (or where the Matrix says you live), knocking on your door, and introducing myself, (or cutting some fingernails off, maybe pulling out some hair (with root DNA still attached), and MAILING you a handwritten LETTER (in pencil), with items inside, I would have to say "nope"! P.S. Good question!
  • The very fact that you're even ASKING me this question demonstrates that you think I exist. And that's good enough for you.
  • Yes. By telling you something that you didn't know already proves that I am not from your head. If I am not from your head then I must exist in some form.
  • existance is relative, if you believe you exist as you are then you also believe that your question and the internet exists and that somewhere, someone phrased this response to your question. if you don't believe you exist or you believe this is in your mind than it still exists because it is a response to a question that exists in your mind. so the question is not do others exist. it's do i exist. and since you are able to ask yourself that question you must exist. because the definition of existance is a state of being. you think therefore you are.
  • if you exist then your question exists my answer exists and i exist as the author. you don't know anything about me other than i am the author of an adequetly phrased answer. i could be a machine.. but i would still be an author. you exist because you asked the question. even people in the matrix existed, just under a false world. if nothing existed than an existing form known as you would not have asked the question and not have received a reply
  • There is only one of me in this world, that I know for sure. Is that proof enough for you.
  • I think, therefore I am. If you're dumber than a lamp post, then you would therefore not exist, existence is a matter of believing you exist, when you think, you must exist. You must exist in order to ask the question "Do I exist?" thus I must exist to answer this. Existence is not the answer, neither is it a question, it is the question which answers it self. If both and neither mean the same thing, and words are just representations and only work in context then I must exist to think about telling about the possibility of asking if I exist. In other words, Existence means everything and nothing. We live on a very normal planet, orbiting a boring old star, in a forgotten corner of a hum-drum galaxy. Are universe seems to be a relatively normal one, and existence is possible within it. I exist. I must exist. Even if life is all A dream, I must exist to dream it, if we are just characters in a futuristic video game we still exist. Even if life is not as it seems, we still must exist. Philosophy is the question of existence, yet you must exist in order to question if you do, the answer is yes.
  • Yes, I can.
  • Consider shame or embarrassment. Here we have a mode of consciousness identical to all of the internal experiences I have. At such a moment I am self-conscious of myself as shame, and access this state through reflection. As a shameful apprehension of something, I realize that this something is ME. I am ashamed of what I am. Shame therefore designates the relation of myself to myself. Through shame I have discovered the existence of my being. It is the primary example of shame before somebody else, something awkward I said or did, that I must live. In the realm of reflection, I can never escape the consciousness of myself as I appear to another person. I pass judgment on myself as an object. I feel irritation and anger which gives way to a sense of ugliness or vulgarity I like to think does not belong to me. There is a conflict between what I am for myself and what I am for other people. Shame pulses through me like lightning. Therefore, my existence can only be determined in the presence of another person. Nobody can be ugly all alone.
  • I exist in THIS human reality.
  • well Im reponding arnt I i wouldntberesponding if I were If this was a computer, no mistakes would've been made.
  • Cogito ergo sum
  • i think that if i think about this subject anyfurther than i already have i will go abolutely insane. we just have to have faith that this comment isn't just a manifestation of your mind to make you feel at ease with you own existence.
  • No but I can prove you exist. :)
  • I dont exist...=)
  • I can't prove to you that I exist but I can prove to me that I exist and that is way more important. I am conscious: I think, feel, and enjoy. I have something to lose in not existing. To you I may not exist because you cannot feel what I feel, but to me you do not exist.
  • Ta Daaa! :)=(
  • If you believed and gave it time, you would know I exist. I have no need to prove to you I exist.
  • No, can you? just thought I'd ask as this is such as deep subject and has been debated though out the decades
  • Simply: No. Based upon my understanding of the universe, we'd *both* have to agree that that is, in fact, the reality.
  • I anwsered, therefore I exist
  • Send me your ATM Card and PIN number and I will empty your bank account (and then you will know that I do).
  • i exist... as you are reading this anwer... you are already aware of the existence of the other person... hence, in order for you to be aware.. a thing must exist first... coz a thing does not exist just because you think it exist... it just exist... i just exist... an im not just a wishful thinking...☺
  • I fart then if you can smell me, I exsist QED
  • Hate to throw a hammer in the works but.... Can you prove that i dont exist?
  • I just farted and my wife yelled at me. She wasn't talking to herself.
  • No, but you can't prove otherwise either.
  • I typed this.therefore I am
  • I got an answer to this. If I don’t exist and this is all some fiction of my imagination, then I gotta find a new way of living in that state; which changes the definition of non existing to an existing state… Meaning that I exist in that non existing world… that means it exist. D:P

  • I don't exist, hence I can't prove my existance to you.
  • I post therefore I am. If not you can imagine that I came from The Land of Wind and Ghosts.
  • I can think of no way that I could prove to you that I am not a figment of your imagination, or, really, that everything you encounter is. I honestly can't imagine any convincing arguments I could use to prove to MYSELF that "I" exist. I'm sure I could come up with various attempts that would (ab)use the language to suggest that my own existence is self-evident, but I'm very aware that language is extremely vested in the idea of the "self", as poorly defined as it is. Then again, I have yet to identify even one thing for which I have certain knowledge. Descartes made huge logical leaps, confused by the language he used (in an era before linguistic analysis was more rigourous in philosophical conjecture), and biased by social preconceptions. He also confused the involuntary "acceptance" we seem to be forced to give to such observations as "appearance appears" with absolute truth, when the invincible certitude with which these propositions present us are no real guarantee of their metaphysical or epistemic certainty. "I think therefore I am" was fairly advanced for his time, but it doesn't honestly make the cut as convincing, or even, ultimately, as coherent.
  • No. In fact, according to the state of VA, I might not exist. I don't have a working photo ID from the DMV. The state of VA is pretty hard-ass in its demands for proofs of existence and living residence. I lack at least one of the kinds of documents acceptable to get the ID. The only proof I may have is that my name may be listed under disability. But, I may very well be a ghost.
