  • If the book is promoted properly and sells well than one can make a decent living.
  • The big sellers make a good, very good amount of money. But low level writers find it hard to make much off their books. If you are thinking of trying it my advice to you is to do it as a hobby, spend a year or 2 writing the book and then try to sell it to a publisher but keep rights to it afterwards and dont quit your day job.
  • If you can sell the movie and tv rights to your book you can make a fortune. It also depends on what you right and how often you write. There are guys who write young adult novels and make very good money. If you are in your 30's you probably have never heard of them, but they sell very well among kids. Same thing with romance novels. There is a guy in the next town from me and there was a artical in the paper about how he bought an old mansion and sunk a million in renoing it. I never hear of him but obviously he is making good money! You can make good money ghost writing as well. Course you can't take credit for it, lol. If you love to write, great, keep doing , just keep your day job!
  • Some do.
