I can't be sure but I feel my role is to help and advise others; I seem to be 'led' into these roles. You could say it's coincidence,it's just how I feel.

I think it was to enslave humanity to make way for the alien overlords, but they never return my calls, so I got lazy. :) As a serious answer: Life has the purpose you create for it. Parents and society may have a purpose in mind for you, but it is theres, not yours.

Aye indeed.. a purpose known to God.

Well being the religious sort, of course I'm going to provide either a whimsical or religious answer. Or something else. So this is a Zen-flavored answer, because nothing whimsical is coming to mind at the moment... There's some merit to the existentialist notion that one creates or discovers their own purpose in the course of living, rather than having it be pre-given by God or providence or whatever. I think that's part of the answer, or one of the valid answers. I would also say that there's a "universal purpose": to awaken oneself and others. There's about a dozen ways to express the meaning of that word, which vary in scope and understandability :) One way to say it is "becoming someone whose actions and perception and experience are integrated with the whole of life seamlessly". The more we accomplish that, the more peaceful, compassionate, helpful, and satisfied we are in life.

I think so. I believe we are here for the benefit of each other; to help each other understand the meaning of life, and to live a life of fulfillment.

To love, to serve, to know God / Allness / Buddha nature. Which I interpret in the same way as Stableboy's great last paragraph of his answer.
