• About the same as Priests today, minister to a parish primarily (but not solely) by celebrating the Sacraments: + The Eucharist (Holy Communion) at Mass + Hear confessions in the Sacrament of Penance + Bless the sick and dying in the Anointing of the Sick + Perform Baptisms + Witness marriages With love in Christ.

Even when Jesus was alive, he warned about the Pharisees and the Sadducees...the Jewish priests of his day.... And compared their false teachings to contaminated bread... ...(Matthew 16:11, 12) How is it you do not discern that I did not speak to you about bread? But watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.? 12 Then they grasped that he said to watch out, not for the leaven of bread, but for the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Quote: "Hear confessions in the Sacrament of Penance" It is in VAIN to confess your sins to a Priest. Hebrews 8:12 "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more."

When Jesus WAS alive?? He lives now! Praise Jesus!
  • They were supposed to be a mediator between man and God, but they have deviated lot, bringing in their own ideas...and ignoring what the scriptures state... The scriptures are protected from radical change... (Revelation 22:18, 19)
  • not sure
  • Their job was to twist the Bible. It is evident that most of their teachings are not supported by Scripture.
  • Same as the present day priests. I used to visit the Catholic church before I became a Christian when I thought I was one and then stopped because of their beliefs. One is such as their going to confession instead of going to God through Jesus. I have known some who wait a week before they did. Some a lot more time such as years.
