Genetics.

All the places you don't want it too ( thighs and hips) and none of the places you do (bigger boobs would have been nice). ;)

The distribution of fat through out the body is based on several factors. Genetics being the main one, however your diet and physical activity as well as lifestyle has a profound effect on where this fat is distributed. If you excercise one area of the body, the fat in that tissue will be burned up more rapidly than another area that doesn't get much excercise. For instance if you sit on your but all day, if your a woman, fat will move to your thighs and butt, if your a guy it will move to your thighs and gut, and somtimes your butt. It really just depends on what parts of the body are less active than others.

Genetics and gender are the main factors. Gender affects fat placement - with men getting fat in between their muscle layers mostly around the gut region (which is very bad for heart health), whereas women tend to get fat between the skin layer and muscles on the bum, breasts and legs (which is not as bad for heart health). Genetics will determine exactly what goes where on each person.

It follows the neon sign just inside my belly button which says, "this way to her thighs."

Fat goes the shortest distance from your stomach where it's produced, your belly first then it stores down to your thighs and buttocks next!

Mostly genetics. I'm confused because all of the women in my family are either apple or pair shaped and yet, I have a classic hourglass. Maybe my great grandmother had it and it skipped down to me, or something.
