Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor, published 1944 , was certainly one of them, I read it when I was about nine and did not understand any of the sexual content. I read it again at a later date and it was certainly a very erotic History Novel, a very old and long one too.

Lady Chatterly's Lover by D.H. Lawrence. It was banned from England and America for like 30 years and was only originally published in France (I think). It's fairly erotic but not as much as you would think considering the lenght of its ban.
