  • Jealousy and evny.
  • I think they say that because the Rich are mostly the ones in power & make societal decisions. The Poor don't want the rich to get carried away with their wealth & not care about the ordinary people.
  • This type of reasoning in indocrinated into them. They need something to blame for their failures. Unions, schools, and socialist politicians are great enforcers of this reasoning.
  • My, what a very broad paintbrush you are using. Might I ask where you gathered the information concerning the beliefs of the poor?
  • It makes them feel better about themselves.
  • Because they value things differently.Rich people are in a level when they don't worry about little things like:What do I eat tomorrrow? Will I be able to buy a better pair of shoes for my kids? They might only ask themselves:Will my business bring 2 million next month?Should I go to the beauty parlor now or tomorrow.I don't care about their wealth and I don't think it's abou eny from poor people for Rich people there is always the promise of tomorrow.
  • It often has to do with a few things - the tax breaks they get and the business and political decisions they make. I know of very few people in ANY income bracket that make jusgements in which everyone involved can win, though most of the time those decisions DO exist. Many folks let power go to their heads. It's not a pretty sight.
  • Conversely, why would rich/poor people assume that their values/morals could even differ from poor/rich people?
  • Maybe for the same reasons that many rich people think the poor participate in incest, raise dozens of mangy, unfed dogs and live on food stamps.
  • May I ask who might you be speaking in behalf of? The rich? The poor? If one or another, how can you pretend to know so much about the other?
  • are you at the same time assuming what poor people think. poor people is very broad as well..
  • Because it's true. Case in point, every politician in America. Another, every oil company executive. Another, all these professional athletes.

  • No, I don't think that. Just the ones in office. I kid. But, in all seriousness, I have to say that people define their own set of values and morals based on experiences and upbringing. We poor saps can't relate to the rich.
  • Thats not true. First, being poor is not some generic brand of people that all have the same beliefs...so opinions on the world and society they live in will vary. I mean, not all "rich" people are the same, right? Some can be down to earth and some can be, well...you get my point. I went to some private schools where everyone but me and a few kids didnt have that much money...the only thing I noticed is that many were sheltered and didnt know how to relaisitcally view the world and because of that didnt have much sympathy and understanding for those in less ofrtunate situations. But, like I said earlier, it varies from person to person. And I dont know a "poor" person who assumes rich people have no values/morals, but they do think they may be out of touch with reality.
  • We don't necessarily all believe that, it's just hard to disprove the money=power, power=corrupts maxim, because it applies to reality so well.
  • it is harder for a rich man to get to heaven than to put a camel thru an eye of a needle...nuff sedd
  • When did it become a crime to become successful? Rich people are not different than poor people they just choose to become something with themselves. Poor people choose not to better themselves and have no one else to blame for them but themselves. Poor people need to quit their whinning.
  • I have family that is pretty well off and they earned it. I'm not there yet, and don't know if I ever will be, but I know they weren't much better off then I am at my age. I think people judge all people based off of the worst ones. When you think of poor people, you think of alcoholic welfare recipients. When you think of rich people, you picture Paris Hilton's shaved snatch and Michael Jackson's insane ability to actually buy anything he wants. Neither are accurate representations, but from what I've seen and heard that's how the majority thinks.
  • "Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself to get new things, clothes or friends." "Life is sweetest at the bone." That's Thoreau. I don't despise rich people or poor people. I greatly disagree with someone's statement that poor people don't try to better themselves. That's just a load of crap (ah, to be as eloquent as Thoreau!). Sure, there are some people to whom that applies, but poor people can better themselves, and I mean their -selves-, just as a rich person can, and it's got nothing at all to do with money. Money often gets in the way, and it seems to block one's judgment of a person, whether that man they judge is rich or poor.
  • If poor people assume that, then they are not only poor concerning monetary issues--they are also poor in intellect.
  • I don't think the rich have no morals, I think some rich have no morals, and I realize most rich people worked very hard to get thier, and I may not agree with some of the governments policies reguarding the rich and taxes at times, this does not reflect how I feel about rich people. Hell I would relish the chance to sit down with one aand learn directly from them how they did it. so I think some one is assuming that we who are not rich do assume. as far as those who might assume I think it has something to do with the media, they don't cast a good light on too many people rich folk included what do ya think of that? BTW Warren Buffet is the shit!
  • probably along the same reasons that some Christians think they are the only ones with any morals, ignorance.
  • well poor people generally appreciate everything they have or get. Rich people take most things for granted. This is just human nature and if you have a lot then you are less likely to value it, as you can replace it easily and would most likely want to upgrade when you could anyway. Materialistically rich people have fewer values and to the poor they become jealous and don't understand this. It is true to say rich people have different values and there are many rich people who are compassionate and understanding of those less fortunate. Most have good moral values, but why shouldn't they enjoy their status and wealth, especially when they have worked hard for it. I think in any difference of class and social status, whether it be intelligence, wealth, or anything by comparison, then there is bound to be differences in opinion. Humans by nature are different and if you add to this a vast difference like wealth, then it is only natural that some people will become judgmental.
  • Jealousy and inverted snobbery.
  • For the most part the only Rich people anyone ever see's are on TV. So, think about it. What kind of Rich people are on TV? Also Jealousy, that is a powerful feeling/sin we all are guilty of having.
  • I didn't know they did. I'm thinking of Katrina and the rich people who showed up their with their wallets to help. The ones who got down in the trenches and worked along side the poor. Sean Penn, Lisa Presley,Brad Pitt, etc..They donated their money and their labor and that sounds like something a moral man would do.
  • You're absolutely right. The value of rich vs. poor people is usually defined by several zeros before the period.
