  • The only advantage I can see is that you can claim the interest on two homes on your income taxes.

  • It depends on what kind of advantage you are looking for. If you are worried about the expense of keeping up two residences, and the bother of it all, then one is better. If you like having a choice about where you are going to stay from time to time, such as one residence in town and another in a vacation spot, there is an advantage. If, as in my case, you want a residence for yourself, and another one for your son and his family, then two is a great advantage. If you want to gain an income from one residence, and live in another, that is an advantage of two. I can't think of very many reasons one is better.
  • Like most things there are pros and cons for either choice. Personally, i think it's a great idea and i'd love to have three homes ~ all on acreage :)
  • If you are rich enough to buy two homes and maintain them, yes! I would have a summer home and a winter home so I'd have the best weather all the time. Advantages? Be cool in the summer and winter without heating or cooling bills. Be more comfortable. Change of pace.
